Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this big feller, Andre the Giant. He ain’t just some big guy in a ring, no sir, he’s a whole story by himself. Most folks reckon he was married, but that ain’t true, not by a long shot. See, he was never wed, but he sure did have a connection with a woman by the name of Jean Christensen. She wasn’t just any woman, mind ya—she became the mother of his only child, a daughter named Robin.
Robin, she’s the one who carries the name of her famous papa, Andre the Giant. Now, I don’t know if you’ve seen her, but she ain’t out there in the public like her father used to be. She’s more of a quiet sort, living up in Seattle. And you’d be surprised, but she works in the same business as her old man, wrestling. Funny how that works, ain’t it? She don’t step into the ring like Andre did, but she’s a part of it, through Titan Championship Wrestling. She’s also been in a documentary all about Andre, the one they called ‘Andre the Giant’. She don’t just live off his name though, she’s got a career of her own, and you can find her doing a little acting too.
Now, back to Andre. Folks, they remember him from the WWE, don’t they? They sure do. And it’s a big deal, ’cause in 1993, he was the first ever to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Ain’t that something? But that ain’t all. He was also a big ol’ feller in movies. You might’ve seen him in that movie called The Princess Bride from 1987, where he played Fezzik. That role got a lot of folks talkin’ and rememberin’ him in a different light, not just the big, strong wrestler but an actor too.
But back to Jean, Robin’s mama. She wasn’t one to be out in the spotlight much. She and Andre met sometime back in the early ‘70s, around 1972 or ‘73, in the wrestling business. That’s how they got to know each other. It wasn’t all sunshine and roses though. Robin, she only got to see her daddy five times in her whole life. That’s right, five. Seems like, even though they had a connection, Andre’s busy life didn’t leave much room for a family like most folks think.
Jean Christensen, well, she lived a life mostly out of the public eye. She passed away in 2008, but she’s remembered through her daughter Robin. Robin’s had her own life, sure, but I reckon she’d always have her father’s legacy with her, especially when it comes to the wrestling world. It’s somethin’ you can’t just forget, you know?
And let me tell ya, Andre the Giant wasn’t just a legend in the ring, he was a giant in other ways too. People remember him for his size, sure, but it was his heart that made him special. A lot of folks saw him as a hero, not just because of his wrestling, but because of the person he was. Now, Robin, she carries on a bit of that legacy, even if she don’t step into the ring like her old man did.
Well, that’s the tale of Jean Christensen and Andre the Giant. Ain’t a fairy tale, but it’s sure a story worth tellin’.
