Well now, y’all wanna know about John Wall and his daddy, huh? I reckon I can tell ya a bit. It ain’t a happy story, but it’s the truth. John Wall, he was born on September 6, 1990, to a lady named Frances Pulley and a man named John Carroll Wall Sr. Now, John Sr., he wasn’t always the kind of man you’d want to bring home to meet your mama, not by a long shot. He had himself a rough time in life, and his story started off a little rocky.
See, John Carroll Wall Sr., he had been in trouble with the law for quite some time. Back in the day, he was locked up for second-degree murder. And just when he thought maybe he was getting his life back together, well, things went from bad to worse. When little John Wall was only a year old, his daddy went and got himself convicted again, this time for armed robbery. I reckon that poor boy didn’t have much time with his daddy before he got put away again.
Now, John Sr. did get out of prison eventually, around August 24, 1999, after serving his time. But just as he was tryin’ to rebuild his life, fate had other plans. He passed away just a month later from liver cancer, at the age of 52. It was a sad thing, I tell ya. His life was full of ups and downs, and it ended way too soon. Little John Wall, he didn’t get to know his daddy much, but he sure did carry his memory.
And here’s somethin’ else for ya – did you know John Wall has a half-brother? Yep, that’s right. A man by the name of John Carroll Wall Jr. Now, this fella, he ain’t too much different from his old man. He got into trouble too and was locked up for second-degree murder in 1999, the same as his daddy. I suppose trouble just runs in the family, don’t it?
Now, what’s real important to know is that despite all the trouble John Sr. caused, little John Wall, he carried on. He went on to play for the Washington Wizards from 2010 all the way to 2019. Then, he played for the Houston Rockets in the 2020-21 season. You know, I reckon his daddy woulda been proud of him, even if he didn’t live to see it. He worked hard, made a name for himself, and didn’t let his daddy’s mistakes define him.
There’s one thing that John Wall really holds dear, though – a drawing from his daddy. It’s one of his most cherished possessions, and it’s somethin’ he never lets go of. That drawing, it came from his father, and even though he didn’t have much time with him, it reminds him of where he came from. Ain’t that somethin’?
So, while John Wall’s story ain’t perfect, it sure is one of survival. He made it through all the hardships, all the family troubles, and went on to do great things. His daddy, John Carroll Wall Sr., might not have been the best role model, but he sure left a mark on his son. And for that, John Wall will always remember him, no matter how things went down.
