Oh, them tennis gals, Venus and Serena. Always hearin’ about ’em on the TV. Wimbledon, ya say? First win, huh? Well, lemme tell ya somethin’, it’s hard to keep track of all them matches and tournaments. They play all over the place, them girls, hittin’ that little fuzzy ball back and forth.
Now, if I remember right, it was Serena, the younger one, who won a big one first. Yeah, the U.S. Open, I think they called it. Made a real splash, she did. But Venus, she wasn’t far behind. Wimbledon, that’s the fancy one in England, right? With the grass and all. Fancy folks watchin’. She won that one, I believe.
It’s like this, see. They both good, real good. Hit that ball hard, runnin’ all over the place. Like little rabbits, they are. Always knew Serena was gonna be somethin’ special, but Venus, she had somethin’ too. Strong as an ox, that girl.
- They both been number one, ya know. Top of the heap. Best in the world.
- Won lots of trophies, too. Gotta be a whole room full of ’em somewhere.
Heard tell they from Compton, California. Tough place, that. But their daddy, he made ’em work hard, train every day. And look at ’em now. Rich as kings, probably.
So, Wimbledon. It was Venus, I’m pretty sure. Came before Serena, maybe? Or after? Honestly, it’s hard to keep it all straight. They been playin’ for so long now, seems like forever.
But them Williams sisters, they somethin’ else. Changed the game, they did. Made tennis excitin’, even for folks like me who don’t know a thing about it. Just watchin’ ’em hit that ball, runnin’ and grunting. It’s somethin’ to see.
People talk about their rivalry, but they always seemed close to me. Sisters, after all. Always cheerin’ each other on. Well, mostly. Guess they both want to win, just like anyone else.
And Wimbledon, that’s a big deal. Fancy place, like I said. Royals watchin’ and all. Imagine, two girls from Compton winnin’ there. Must’ve made their daddy proud.
So, yeah, Venus won Wimbledon first. I’m sure of it now. Good for her. She deserved it. Worked hard, she did. And Serena, she got hers later. Both winners, both champions.
Don’t really matter who won first, though. They both made history, them girls. Inspired a lot of young folks, I bet. Showed ’em that if you work hard, you can achieve anythin’.
So, next time they play, I’ll be sure to watch. Even if I don’t understand all the rules and points and whatnot. It’s just fun to see them go at it. Two sisters, best in the world. Now that’s somethin’ special.
