Alright, let’s talk about this Patrick Cantlay fella and the bad luck he’s had. Real shame, it is. Heard tell he’s a good golfer, real good, but seems like trouble just follows him around like a stray dog.
First off, there was that terrible thing with his caddie, Chris Roth. Poor young man. They was friends, you know, like brothers almost. Walking down the street, minding their own business, and then BAM! Some idiot in a car, hits Chris and just takes off. Didn’t even stop. Left him there, like roadkill. Patrick, he held Chris right there in the street, covered in blood. Can you imagine? Having your friend die in your arms like that? It’s enough to break a person.
That happened back in 2016, in Newport Beach. Hit-and-run they called it. Newport Beach accident, they said on the TV. Made me sick to my stomach, it did. A young life, snuffed out just like that. And Patrick, he had to go through all that pain. Losing a friend, that ain’t somethin’ you just get over.
- It happened in Newport Beach.
- The caddie’s name was Chris Roth.
- It was a hit-and-run.
Now, I ain’t no golf expert, but I hear tell Patrick’s a fighter. He kept playing, even after all that heartache. But seems like the bad luck just kept coming. He got hurt, you know. Broke somethin’ in his back, they said. A spinal fracture, fancy words for a bad backache. Happened while he was just warming up, swinging a club. Can you believe it? Just swinging a club and boom, your back’s broke. He had to sit out for a long time, couldn’t play at all. They said he couldn’t even bend down to tie his shoes. Poor fella had to have other folks help him with simple things. It just ain’t right.
And then, just when you think things are looking up, there’s more trouble. This time, it was at somethin’ called the Ryder Cup, over in Rome. Now, I don’t know much about this Ryder Cup, sounds fancy, but apparently there was a big fight. A real bust-up they called it. And Patrick’s new caddie, Joe LaCava, he was right in the middle of it. Got into it with some other golfer, Rory somethin’-or-other. Yellin’ and carryin’ on, right there on the golf course. Folks said it even spilled over into the parking lot. Just imagine, grown men acting like that. It’s embarrassing, is what it is.
Seems like Patrick can’t catch a break. He tries to do good, play his golf, but somethin’ always goes wrong. He just had to pull out of another tournament, the John Deere Classic, because of that back injury acting up again. He posted somethin’ on that Twitter thing, said he hurt himself practicing. Can’t win for losin’, that boy. I hope he gets better soon. He seems like a nice young man, and it’s just plain sad to see him go through all this.
This whole thing, with Chris and the injuries and the fights, it just makes you think. Life’s hard, you know? Especially for some folks. You just gotta keep goin’, keep fightin’. Like Patrick, he keeps getting back up, even when life knocks him down. That’s somethin’ to admire, I reckon. But Lord, have mercy, I hope his luck changes soon. He deserves a break.
So that’s the story, as best as I can tell it. A young man with a lot of talent and a whole heap of bad luck. Let’s hope things turn around for him, and he can finally find some peace and success on that golf course.
Patrick Cantlay injury is just another chapter of bad luck in the man’s life. You hear me? It’s hard, playing good golf must be hard enough as it is but then to deal with all this other stuff, it’s just too much sometimes. I hope he finds a good doctor and that they can fix him up good. And maybe he needs a new caddie, one that don’t get into fights.
