Alright, so, let’s talk about this Darko Rajakovic fella. Folks keep jabberin’ ’bout him, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, you know? Don’t expect no fancy words from me, though. I just say it like I see it.
First off, they say he’s coachin’ them Toronto Raptors. Basketball, that is. Never really understood the game myself, all that runnin’ and jumpin’. But hey, people seem to like it. This Rajakovic guy, he’s new, came in, what, 2023? Folks were all a-buzzin’ like bees around a honeypot.
Now, they’re sayin’ he’s a real people person. A “communicator,” they call it. Means he talks good, I guess. Important for a coach, I reckon. Gotta tell them young fellas what to do, right? And it ain’t just yellin’ and screamin’, though some of them old coaches, they sure liked to holler. This Rajakovic, he seems different. Softer, maybe. They say he lets his other coaches do their thing, bringin’ ideas and runnin’ them drills. That’s good, ain’t it? Sharing the load, that’s what I always say.
- He’s got this young team, see?
- They ain’t winnin’ all the time, lost to them Lakers and the Heat, I heard.
- But they say he’s rebuildin’, that’s a big word for fixin’ things up, like mendin’ a fence, but for basketball.
This rebuildin’ stuff, it takes time, you know? Like plantin’ a garden, you gotta wait for things to grow. Can’t expect to have ripe tomatoes the next day, no sir. And these Raptors, they’re young, like them sprouts just comin’ outta the ground. Gotta water ’em, give ’em sunshine, and this Rajakovic fella, he’s the one doin’ the waterin’, I guess.
Then there’s this Drake fella. A singer, I think. Rich as mud. He’s puttin’ money into the Raptors, into the court and the trainin’ place, even for the whole Canada basketball thing. He likes this Rajakovic fellow, seems like. Good to have somebody with deep pockets on your side, that’s for sure.
They talk about different players, too. Scottie Barnes, comin’ back from some injury, somethin’ with his face bones, they said. And this Jamison Battle, shootin’ the ball real good, like a sharpshooter, you know? Then there’s talk about gettin’ players from other teams, Memphis Grizzlies, they mentioned. Sounds like a lot of movin’ and shakin’. Reminds me of when the circus came to town, always somethin’ new happenin’.
They were sayin’ somethin’ ’bout a weird startin’ lineup. Don’t even know what that means, but it sounds important. Like puttin’ the right horses in front of the wagon, I suppose. Gotta have the strong ones pullin’ the load. This Rajakovic, he’s figurin’ all that out, see? Tryin’ different things, seein’ what works.
And they play hard, I hear. Aggressive on defense, they said. That means they’re scrappy, gettin’ in there, takin’ the ball. Reminds me of my chickens fightin’ for scraps. Gotta be tough to survive, whether you’re a chicken or a basketball player, I guess.
They also said something about taking care of the ball. That’s important, ain’t it? Don’t want to be losin’ it all the time, just like you don’t want to be spillin’ your milk. And they’re shootin’ good, with confidence, they said. Like they know what they’re doin’. That’s half the battle, ain’t it? Believin’ in yourself.
So, this Darko Rajakovic, he’s got his work cut out for him, that’s for sure. He’s got a young team, a lot of pressure, and everybody watchin’. But he seems like a good fella, this communicator, this rebuildin’ type. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll get them Raptors flyin’ high again. Time will tell, like they say. Time will tell.
