Well, let me tell you about this fella, Scottie Scheffler. Seems like everybody’s talkin’ ’bout him these days. He’s one of them golf fellas, you know, the ones that whack them little white balls around all day. Scottie Scheffler sponsors, that’s what they call it when them companies give him money and stuff to use their things.
Now, I ain’t no expert on golf, or nothin’ like that, but from what I hear, this Scottie fella is pretty darn good. Folks say he’s the number one player in the world, which must mean he’s better than all them other fellas swingin’ clubs. He’s been winnin’ a bunch of tournaments and makin’ a whole lotta money.
- He hits that ball real far, they say.
- And he’s good at gettin’ it in that little hole, too.
But see, it ain’t just about hittin’ balls and winnin’ trophies. These golf fellas, they get money from sponsors. That’s how it works, you see. Companies pay ‘em big bucks to use their golf clubs, wear their hats, and even put stickers on their bags. It’s like this, if you see Scottie usin’ a certain kind of golf club, you might think, “Well, if it’s good enough for him, it must be good enough for me!” And then you go buy that club, and the company makes more money. That’s why having the world No.1 on your company’s staff is a big deal.
One of the big companies that gives Scottie money is called TaylorMade. They make golf clubs and balls and all sorts of things. Scottie, he uses their stuff, and they pay him for it. It’s like a trade, you know? He gets their stuff, and they get his name and his face to help them sell more things. They just signed a new deal with him, so he’ll be usin’ their stuff for a long time to come, I reckon. It’s what they call a “multi-year deal” which means it’ll be a good few years before he’s gotta think about changin’ his clubs.
It ain’t just clubs, though. Scottie probably gets money from other companies too. Maybe for wearin’ their shirts or drinkin’ their drinks. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a deal with a car company or somethin’. These fellas, they make a lot of money, not just from winnin’ tournaments, but from all them sponsors too. And this caddie fella, Ted Scott, he does alright too. Apparently, he has made a good 5 million dollars which is more than most golf guys can make.
It’s a funny thing, this whole sponsor business. But I guess that’s how the world works these days. If you’re good at somethin’, people wanna give you money to use their stuff. And Scottie Scheffler, well, he’s darn good at hittin’ that little white ball. He must be a nice fella too. I hope he is anyways. Always smilin’ when I see him on that there television.
And so, that’s what I know about Scottie Scheffler sponsors. He’s a good golfer, he makes a lotta money, and he uses stuff from companies that pay him to do it. It’s a win-win for everyone, I guess. Except maybe for them other golf fellas who gotta play against him, cause he just keeps on winning. As long as he keeps winning they will keep wanting to put their company’s name on him. That much I do understand.
I always said that if I was younger I would have a go at that golf lark. Swinging a stick to hit a ball, I could have done that no problem, but I had other things on my mind when I was young. And now, well now I can just sit back and watch them young fellas do it, eh?
It makes you wonder though, what with him being the No.1 and everything, just how much do you think he makes? It’s gotta be a mighty amount of money, especially now that the caddie made five million. The caddie probably makes a percent of the total so that means that Scottie has made well north of that amount. I don’t know, but when you’re that good people will give you anything I guess.
So there you have it. All about Scottie and his sponsors. Now, I gotta go make some supper, all this talking makes a person hungry.
