Well, let me tell ya ’bout this young fella, Nikhil Rama. I ain’t know much ’bout golfin’, but I hear tell he’s a pretty good one. Folks say he’s been hittin’ them little balls since he was a young’un. Born in 2001, they say. That’s like yesterday to me, ya know? Time flies like a bat outta heck.
This Nikhil fella, he’s from Gauteng. Don’t rightly know where that is, but sounds fancy. Heard he’s been playin’ in some big tournaments. Sunshine Tour, they call it. Sounds hot, like when you’re out in the fields all day. He even came in fourth place once, that’s pretty good, right? Means he ain’t the worst, that’s for sure.
Now, they got this website, *, where you can see how he’s doin’. Scores and all that. I ain’t got no computer, so I just listen to what the folks in town are sayin’. They always gossiping ’bout somethin’, so I catch bits and pieces.
- He turned pro in 2020. That means he’s gettin’ paid to whack them balls, I reckon.
- They say he’s ranked 1,214 in the world. That sounds like a big number, but I guess there’s a whole lotta golfers out there.
- He went to some special golf school, GolfRSA. Sounds like them city folks got a school for everything.
Folks are always talkin’ ’bout him and some other fella, Brandon Stone. Seems like they play together sometimes. Probably good buddies, I guess. Like me and Martha, always gossiping ’bout the neighbors.
There was this one time, they said he played real good. “Fired a brilliant,” they said. Don’t know what that means, but sounds like he done good. Probably made them balls fly real far. I can barely throw a rock across the creek these days, so I’m impressed.
They got these tickets too, to watch him play. “My Tickets,” they call ’em. I ain’t got time for that. Too busy tendin’ to the chickens and the garden. But some folks go, I hear. They like watchin’ them fellas chase them little white balls around.
And ESPN, they talk about him too. That’s the big TV channel, right? So he must be kinda famous. They got news and gossip and all that. Same stuff the ladies at the church talk about, just on a bigger screen.
This Nikhil, he’s a young ‘un, still got a lot of learnin’ to do, I reckon. But he’s doin’ alright for himself. Gettin’ paid to play a game, that’s a pretty good life, ain’t it? Better than slavin’ away in the fields, that’s for darn sure. I hope he keeps on hittin’ them balls and makin’ a name for himself. Good for him, I say. He seems like a nice boy, even though I ain’t never met him. Just gotta stay outta trouble and keep his nose clean, that’s the important thing.
Nikhil Rama’s a golfer, ya see. Folks follow his scores and he plays in tournaments. He’s from South Africa and he’s young. People can find information about him on the internet and TV. That’s about all I know, but he seems to be doing pretty good for himself.
Now, I gotta get back to my chores. Them chickens ain’t gonna feed themselves, ya know. But it’s nice to hear ’bout young folks doin’ well. Gives ya a little hope for the future, even if you ain’t got much time left yourself.
