Alright, let’s talk about this Valhalla golf place, ya know, the one them fellas play on TV. Heard it’s a real long one, they call it “yardage,” sounds fancy, but it just means how far ya gotta whack that little white ball, I reckon.
So, how long is this Valhalla yardage thing anyway? Well, they say it’s a whopping 7,609 yards! That’s a whole lotta walking, I tell ya. Longer than most places them fellas play, one of the longest this year, they say. Makes it tough, real tough. You gotta hit that ball a country mile to get anywhere.
This fella, Jack Nick-something, he built the place. Smart fella, I guess, made it real purdy, but also real tricky. Greens are fast and slopin’ all over the place, my friend Jeff says they’re too hard! Some holes are short, some are long, keeps ya on your toes, I suppose. And that back nine? Whew! Tough as nails, they say. Number 12, they say it’s the hardest one in Kentucky, maybe even the whole darn country!
- Long hitters, they got an advantage, see? Gotta boom it out there.
- But ya gotta be good with them iron sticks too, gotta be precise, can’t just be swingin’ wild.
You know, to win at this Valhalla, you gotta be shootin’ low, real low. Like 15 under par, whatever that means. Sounds like a lot of good shots to me. And get this, they made the course even longer this year, added a whole bunch more yards. Guess they wanted to make it even harder on them fellas.
What makes Valhalla so tough? Well, it ain’t just the length, see? It’s the whole shebang. You gotta think about where you’re hittin’ the ball, gotta plan it all out. Visualize, they call it. Means picturing where that ball’s gonna go. I just picture it goin’ straight, but it don’t always listen, ya know?
They also got these fancy books, Stracka-line somethin’, that tell ya all about the greens, how they slope and all that. Real detailed, helps ya figure out where to putt. But even with them books, it ain’t easy. You gotta be real good to make them putts, gotta have a steady hand. And them tee boxes, they even moved ‘em around this year, made some holes a little different.
Now, this Valhalla ain’t one of them skinny little courses neither. It’s got plenty of room to hit, so you ain’t gotta be perfect all the time, but you still gotta be smart. Gotta keep that ball in play, out of the rough and the water, all that stuff. It’s what they call a “tee-to-green” course, means you gotta be good at every part of the game, not just whackin’ it far.
So, there ya have it, a little somethin’ about that Valhalla yardage. Long and tough, that’s the bottom line. You gotta be long, gotta be straight, gotta be smart, gotta be lucky. And you gotta have a good pair of walkin’ shoes, ‘cause you’re gonna be doin’ a lot of it! Sounds like a real challenge, even for them fancy fellas on TV. Me? I’ll stick to my little putt-putt course down the road, thank ya very much!
In short, Valhalla yardage is a beast, plain and simple. It tests everythin’ a golfer’s got, and then some. Long, tough, and demands a whole lot of thinkin’. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. But it sure makes for excitin’ watchin’, seein’ them fellas try to tame that monster. Makes ya appreciate a good, straight drive and a steady putt, that’s for sure.
And that’s about all I know about Valhalla’s yardage. It’s long, real long. That’s the main thing to remember. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about golf has made me hungry!
