Alright, alright, let’s talk about this USC Trojans women’s basketball, you know, the one with all them girls runnin’ and jumpin’ ’round. Heard they’re pretty good, like real good. Folks keep jabberin’ ’bout ’em, so I figured, why not, let’s see what the fuss is all about.
Them gals can score, I tell ya! Heard on the radio they’re puttin’ up somethin’ like 99 points for every 100 times they get the ball. Now, I ain’t no math whiz, but that sounds like a whole heap of points to me. Means they’re shootin’ the ball pretty darn good, I reckon. Don’t just stand around twiddlin’ their thumbs, these girls are go-getters.
They got this one girl, JuJu somethin’-or-other, sounds like a candy bar name, don’t it? Anyways, everyone’s all a-flutter about her. Say she’s one of the best players in the whole country. Can’t say I’ve seen her play myself, TV’s been on the fritz lately, but if everyone’s sayin’ it, must be somethin’ to it. Makes you wonder what kinda magic she’s got in them sneakers.
- Heard they’re playin’ Notre Dame, another big team, I guess.
- Sounds like a real barn burner of a game.
- Wish I could watch it, but like I said, TV’s busted.
Now, they got a schedule, a whole bunch of games lined up. ESPN, that sports channel, they got it all written down. Game times and everything. Not that I understand all them dates and times, but it’s good they got it organized, I s’pose. Someone’s gotta keep track of all them games, right?
They played some other team too, California Baptist somethin’. Sounded like a church group name, not a basketball team, but what do I know? Just goes to show you can’t judge a book by its cover, or a team by its name, I guess. Long as they’re winnin’, that’s all that matters, right?
This whole basketball thing, it’s a young person’s game, I tell ya. All that runnin’ and jumpin’, makes my knees hurt just thinkin’ about it. But it’s excitin’, gotta give ’em that. Folks get all riled up, cheerin’ and hollerin’. Reminds me of a good old-fashioned barn raisin’, but with more sneakers and less hay.
So, yeah, USC Trojans women’s basketball. They’re good, real good, from what I hear. Scorin’ a lot, playin’ hard, and got that JuJu girl leadin’ the way. Makes you proud, even if you ain’t got no connection to them whatsoever. Just good to see young folks doin’ somethin’ positive, you know? Keeps ’em outta trouble, that’s for sure.
Now, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about basketball got me hungry. Maybe I’ll fry up some chicken, somethin’ good and hearty. While I’m cookin’, I’ll be thinkin’ ’bout them Trojans, runnin’ and gunnin’ on that court. Go get ’em, girls! That’s what I say! Show ‘em what you’re made of!
