Alright, let’s talk about this Trey Morgan draft thing, or whatever they call it. I don’t know much about these fancy football things, but I hear folks talking, so I’ll tell you what I gather.
Who is this Trey Morgan fella? I reckon he’s one of them young boys trying to get into that big-shot football league, the NFL, they call it. Sounds like a rough game, all that running and hitting. Reminds me of chasing chickens back in the day, only these boys are chasing a funny-shaped ball and get paid a whole lot more than I ever did!
Now, this “draft” thing, from what I can tell, is like a big ol’ picking party. All these football teams get together and choose which young fellas they want on their team. It’s like picking apples, I guess, you want the best ones, the ones that look strong and ready to work. Only instead of apples, it’s these big, strong boys.
I heard some fellas on the TV talking about “expert picks” and “draft analysis.” Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. They sit there in their fancy suits, talking all smart-like, but I bet you half of ’em couldn’t tell a pig from a cow. They’re just guessing, same as anyone else. Like predicting the weather, sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don’t.
- They talk about “mock drafts” too. That’s like a practice round, I figure. They pretend to pick players and see who goes where. Seems like a waste of time to me, but what do I know?
- Then there’s this “draft analysis” – well, that just sounds like them fellas overthinkin’ things. They look at how fast a boy runs, how much he can lift, all that stuff. But sometimes, it’s the heart that matters, not just the muscles, you know?
- I heard one fella sayin’ somethin’ about a player not gettin’ any younger. Well, duh! Ain’t none of us gettin’ younger, that’s just life. But I guess in football, it matters more, ’cause them boys gotta be fast and strong.
So, they got these fellas, like this Mel Kiper guy, been doin’ this draft thing since way back when. He’s on the TV all the time, talkin’ and talkin’. He’s probably seen a lot of players come and go. He probably knows a thing or two, but still, it’s all just a guess in the end. You never really know how a player will do until he gets out there on the field.
And these other channels, like CBS Sports, they got their own “experts” too. They’re all trying to be the smartest one in the room, tellin’ you who to pick, who to watch out for. It’s a whole big business, this football thing. Makes my head spin sometimes.
But I tell you what, it’s all entertainment, right? People like to watch these games, cheer for their teams, get all riled up. And this draft thing, it’s just part of the show. It gives folks something to talk about, something to get excited about. And that’s alright, I guess. We all need a little excitement in our lives.
So, what about Trey Morgan? Well, I don’t know if he’s any good or not. Maybe he’ll be a star, maybe he’ll fizzle out. That’s the thing about life, you never know what’s gonna happen. But I wish him luck, I do. It takes a lot of guts to get out there and try, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of, no matter what.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this whole draft thing. It’s a lot of fuss over boys throwing a ball around, if you ask me. But hey, if it makes people happy, then who am I to judge? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got to go feed my chickens.
