Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this… this “Howl Newcards Zzz” thing. Don’t ask me what it means, sounds like somethin’ a city slicker made up. But anyways, it’s got somethin’ to do with a game, I think.
So, this Howl fella, he’s a dog, a husky I heard. Imagine that, a dog runnin’ a newsstand! He ain’t just sellin’ newspapers, though. He’s got these scratch cards, see? Every day, you get one for free. Free! That’s the best kinda price, right?
Now, these cards, they ain’t just for scratchin’ and tossin’. You can win stuff. Money, I guess, they call it “currencies” in the game. Sounds fancy, but it’s just money, ya know? And there’s other things too, like… like “rewards,” they say. Whatever that means. Maybe it’s like gettin’ a prize at the county fair, only it’s in a computer game.
- You go to Howl’s News Stand, that’s on Sixth Street. Sounds busy, huh?
- Then there’s another place, Lumina Square, where Howl’s owner, a lady named Eve, hangs out. She’s got a kiosk there, whatever that is. Fancy word for a little shop, I reckon.
- You get your scratch card, scratch it off, and see what ya won. Simple as pie, even I can understand it.
But here’s the thing, it ain’t always easy peasy. There’s this “gacha” thing tied to it. Sounds like gibberish, but it means you ain’t always gonna win big. Sometimes you get a little, sometimes you get a lot. It’s like plantin’ seeds, sometimes they grow big and strong, sometimes they just wither up and die.
This Howl, he’s a friendly fella, they say. Always happy to give ya a card. But there’s more to it than just scratchin’. They talk about “hidden mechanics.” Now, I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout mechanics, unless it’s fixin’ a tractor. But I guess it means there’s some secret way to get better prizes. Maybe you gotta scratch it a certain way, or maybe you gotta say a magic word. Who knows? City folks and their complicated ways.
And then there’s this “Ridu For You” thing. It’s some kinda puzzle game. You gotta solve puzzles to get a “Namecard.” Sounds like a fancy business card to me. Folks in the city sure do like their cards, don’t they? First scratch cards, now namecards. What’ll they think of next?
I also heard tell that this game is comin’ out on all sorts of gadgets. Computers, phones, even those PlayStation thingamajigs the grandkids are always playin’ with. Seems like everyone’s gonna be playin’ it. Maybe even me, if I can figure out how to use one of them fancy phones.
And they’re sayin’ somethin’ about gettin’ a whole bunch of “Gear Coins” by explorin’ in the game. Two hundred thousand of ’em! That’s a lot of coins, even if they ain’t real money. You gotta do a lot of wanderin’ around, I guess. Reminds me of huntin’ for mushrooms in the woods. Sometimes you find a whole bunch, sometimes you come up empty.
They say the game is comin’ out in December, right before Christmas. Maybe I’ll ask the grandkids to show me how to play. Could be fun, ya know? Scratchin’ cards, solvin’ puzzles, wanderin’ around. Maybe it ain’t so different from life in the country after all.
So, that’s the long and short of it. This Howl Newcards Zzz thing. It’s a game about a dog, scratch cards, and a whole lotta other stuff. Don’t ask me to explain it all, I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, maybe give it a try. Who knows, you might even win somethin’.
