Tony Pauline, Who’s This Fella Anyway?
Alright, so I heard this name, Tony Pauline. Sounds like a fancy pants name, if you ask me. Folks keep jabberin’ about him, sayin’ he knows all about football and who’s gonna get picked for what team. Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout that fancy football stuff, but I can tell you if a hen’s gonna lay a good egg or if the corn’s gonna be tall this year, ya know? But this Tony fella, he’s apparently a big deal in that football world.
They say he used to be a scout. A scout? Like them boys in the woods lookin’ for somethin’? Well, I guess it’s kinda like that, only he’s lookin’ for fellas who can throw a ball and run real fast. And they say he’s got “deep ties” with folks in the League. League? What kinda league? Must be somethin’ important, the way they talk about it. Sounds like a bunch of important fellas shakin’ hands and makin’ deals, if you ask me.
Mock Drafts and Such
Now, this Tony fella, he does somethin’ called a “mock draft.” Don’t ask me what that means, but it sounds like he’s guessin’ which players are gonna go to which teams. Like predictin’ the weather, only with football players. He’s got this 2.0 version now. Must mean he did it once before and now he’s doin’ it again. He’s sayin’ some fella named Shedeur Sanders and another one, Ashton Jeanty, are gonna go play for some team in the NFC East. Sounds like a whole lotta mumbo jumbo to me. NFC East? Where’s that even at? Is it near the Piggly Wiggly?
He’s also talkin’ about the Jacksonville Jaguars pickin’ a fella named Travis Hunter. Says he can play both cornerback and wide receiver. Now, I don’t know what that means, but it sounds like he’s a busy fella, doin’ two things at once. Kinda like me, milkin’ the cow and feedin’ the chickens at the same time. But I bet this Hunter fella gets paid a whole lot more than I do.
All-Star Games and Pro Days
They say Tony goes to all the big all-star games. So, he’s watchin’ the best of the best, I guess. Like lookin’ at the biggest pumpkins at the county fair. And he goes to a “ton of Pro Days.” Pro Days? What in tarnation is that? Sounds like a bunch of fellas showin’ off how strong and fast they are. Probably liftin’ heavy things and runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off.

This “League” and Those Players
This “League” he talks about must be a big deal. Folks gettin’ all worked up about who’s gonna play for who. Reminds me of the church bake sale, everybody wantin’ to know who made the best apple pie. And these players, they’re like the prize-winnin’ pigs at the state fair. Everybody wants ’em. Tony, he’s the one pointin’ and sayin’, “That one’s goin’ here, and that one’s goin’ there.” He’s like the auctioneer, but instead of sellin’ cows, he’s sellin’ football players, or somethin’ like that.
I even heard tell he’s talkin’ ’bout some college fellas, from a place called UNC. Says there’s a couple of ’em, Max Johnson and Kaimon Rucker, who might be good enough for the “League” next year. So, he’s lookin’ ahead, plantin’ seeds for the next harvest, you could say. It’s all a bit much for an old gal like me, but seems like this Tony Pauline fella, he knows his stuff. Or at least folks think he does.
Anyway, that’s what I’ve gathered about this Tony Pauline. A scout, a guesser, a watcher of strong fellas. Sounds like a busy life. Maybe he should come out to the farm sometime and see if he can scout a good rooster. Now, those are some fellas who know how to compete!

I heard some more talk about this Tony Pauline fella. Seems like he’s been doing this scouting and predicting thing for a long time. Some folks are even saying he has friends in the front office of the football teams. Front office, sounds like a bunch of fellas sitting in big chairs making big decisions. Like the elders at the church deciding if we should paint the walls blue or green. But the front office fellas are making choices about players worth a whole lot more than a bucket of paint. And they talk to Tony before make them * knows who’s fast, who’s strong and who ain’t gonna cut mustard. He knows who should go play for which team, in this league. It seems his work is very important.
