Alright, so you wanna know, is Paige Bueckers black? I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this, so let’s get it straight, ya hear? Now, I ain’t got no fancy book learnin’ or nothin’, but I can tell ya what I know and what I see. This girl, Paige Bueckers, she plays basketball, real good, like. Heard she’s somethin’ special.
First off, they say she’s from Minnesota. Minnesota, that’s up north, ain’t it? Cold up there. Don’t know too many folks from up there, to be honest. But where a person’s from don’t make ’em one thing or another, ya know? It’s what’s in their heart that counts, like my old pappy used to say.
Now, this girl plays for UConn. That’s a big school, a real big deal for basketball. Heard they win all the time. Paige, she’s a star player, that’s for sure. Folks say she’s got awards and all. Naismith, whatever that is, sounds important. She must be workin’ hard, that’s for sure. Hard work always pays off, that’s what I tell my grandkids.
- She plays basketball real good.
- She plays for UConn.
- She won some fancy awards.
They say she’s got teammates too. Azzi Fudd, Jana El Alfy, those are some names, ain’t they? Sounds like a bunch of nice girls. Basketball’s a team sport, ya know. Gotta work together to win. Just like makin’ a quilt, everybody gotta do their part.
I seen some pictures of her online, and she don’t look black to me. She looks… well, she looks like a nice young lady. But looks ain’t everything, ya know? My grandma used to say, “Pretty is as pretty does.” It’s how you treat people that matters.
Heard she even met the folks from that Grey’s Anatomy show. That’s a TV show, right? My niece watches it all the time. Seems like this Paige girl is doin’ alright for herself. Good for her, I say. Every young person deserves a chance to shine.
So, is she black? Like I said, I don’t think so. But does it really matter? She’s a good basketball player, that’s what matters. She’s workin’ hard and doin’ somethin’ she loves. That’s all any of us can ask for, ain’t it? My ma always said, “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I think maybe that Paige girl understands that.
They say she led her team to the Final Four. That’s somethin’ big, right? Like the World Series, but for basketball. She must be real talented. Talent’s a gift, ya know. Gotta use it for good. Like my brother, he could fix anything. He used his talent to help the whole town.
Folks talk about her all the time, Paige Bueckers this, Paige Bueckers that. She’s a big deal, I guess. But to me, she’s just a young woman tryin’ to make her way in the world. Just like the rest of us. We’re all just tryin’ to make our way, ain’t we?
So, there ya have it. That’s what I know about Paige Bueckers. She’s a basketball player, a good one at that. And as for her being black, well, I don’t think so. But like I said, it don’t matter much to me. What matters is she’s a good person, workin’ hard and doin’ her best. And that’s all anyone can ask for, black or white or anythin’ in between.
And another thing, don’t go judgin’ people by the color of their skin. That ain’t right. We’re all just people, ya know? We all bleed the same. That’s what my grandpa used to say, and he was a wise old man. We should all listen to that wise old man’s words.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say on the matter. Hope it clears things up for ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got a hankerin’ for some fried chicken and mashed potatoes. That’s good eatin’, right there.
