Alright, let’s talk about this Marquette basketball, you know, the Golden Eagles. Heard some things, seen some things, gonna tell ya like it is.
So, what’s the deal with this team, eh? Well, from what I gather, they got some of the old guys comin’ back, and some new faces too. Like, a mix-up, you know? Like when you’re makin’ a stew, gotta have the potatoes you know, but gotta throw in some carrots too, to make it tasty.
- Them old guys, they say one of ’em is real good. Real, real good. Like, the best in the whole country, they say.
- But is one fella enough? Can’t win a game all by yourself, can ya? Need the whole team workin’ together, like a bunch of ants carryin’ a big ol’ crumb.
Heard tell this fella, Kam Jones, is his name. They say he’s somethin’ else. Scores from inside, scores from outside, plays good defense too, long arms and all. Sounds like a good egg, this Kam.
But like I said, one good egg ain’t enough. Gotta have the whole dozen workin’ hard. So, who else they got? Well, they got these new guys, transfers they call ’em. Comin’ from other places, tryin’ to make a name for themselves. Hope they’re good, hope they ain’t lazy bums.
Now, this Big East thing, that’s somethin’ serious, I reckon. Tough teams, tough games. Gotta be ready, gotta be strong. Can’t be messin’ around, or you’ll get your feathers ruffled, that’s for sure.
This season comin’ up, the 2024-25 one, they say it’s gonna be a big one for Marquette. Lots of expectations, lots of pressure. Gotta see if they can handle it, gotta see if they can rise to the occasion. Like bakin’ a cake, gotta have the right ingredients, gotta have the right temperature, or it’ll all fall flat.
Heard some folks talkin’ about bettin’ on these games. Said somethin’ about trends, and starters, and who’s gonna be the key player. Don’t know much about that bettin’ stuff, sounds risky to me. Rather stick to watchin’ the game, cheerin’ for the good guys.
Speaking of games, they got a tough one comin’ up against Dayton. Heard Dayton’s got a good team too, gonna be a real battle. They say Marquette’s the highest-ranked team to visit Dayton in a long, long time. Seventeen years, they said. That’s a long time, even for an old bird like me.
So, what’s my take on all this? Well, I think Marquette’s got potential, that’s for sure. They got the star player, they got the new guys, they got the tough schedule. But potential ain’t enough, gotta put in the work, gotta play hard, gotta play smart. Gotta be like a good ol’ hound dog, gotta be tenacious, gotta be relentless.
It all comes down to teamwork, in my opinion. Gotta have them boys workin’ together, supportin’ each other, fightin’ for each other. Can’t be no selfishness, can’t be no finger-pointin’. Gotta be like a family, gotta be like a well-oiled machine.
And that coach, he’s gotta be somethin’ special too. Gotta keep them boys motivated, gotta keep them focused, gotta keep them out of trouble. Like a shepherd with his sheep, gotta keep ’em all in line, gotta keep ’em headin’ in the right direction.
So, yeah, that’s my two cents on this Marquette basketball team. Got potential, got challenges, got a lot to prove. We’ll see what happens, we’ll see if they can make us proud. Gonna be an interestin’ season, that’s for darn sure.
