Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan thing, this whole tug of war they had, or didn’t have, or whatever it was. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two on that there wrestling TV.
Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, and that Championship Belt
See, they say these two fellas, Bret “Hitman” Hart and Hulk Hogan, were big deals back in the day. Hogan, he was this big ol’ fella, strong as an ox, they say. Bret, he was quicker, like a fox, always sneakin’ around. Folks always wondered who’d win in a fight, you know, like a real tug of war, not just with a rope, but for that fancy championship belt.
Now, I heard tell there was talk of them havin’ a match, a real big one, at somethin’ called SummerSlam back in ’93. Hogan was supposed to wrestle Bret, and Bret wanted to win the belt, fair and square. But somethin’ happened, and Hogan, he just up and left. Went off to Hollywood, they say, to be a movie star. Left Bret high and dry, no championship, no nothin’.
- Hulk Hogan was a big strong fella.
- Bret Hart was quick and smart.
- They were supposed to fight for the championship belt.
- Hogan left to be a movie star.
That ain’t right, I tell ya. If you say you’re gonna fight, you gotta fight. Can’t just run off when things get tough. That’s what my old man always said, and he was a tough one, let me tell ya.
They Did Wrestle, But Not Like We Thought
Later on, they both ended up in another wrestlin’ place, WCW, they called it. And they did wrestle, once, just one time. But it wasn’t no big deal, not like it shoulda been. Just some quick match on TV, nothin’ special. Kinda like when you go to the store for milk and they’re all out of your favorite kind. Disappointing, you know?
I heard some folks sayin’ Hogan didn’t wanna lose to Bret, didn’t want to give him that belt. Said he was too big, too important. But I think that’s just hogwash. Size ain’t everything, and Bret, he had somethin’ special, that’s for sure.
Bret Was Gonna Win, That’s What They Say
Now, Bret, he wrote a book, see? And in that book, he said he was supposed to win that match at SummerSlam. He had it all planned out. He was gonna wrestle this other fella, Shawn, and win fair and square. But Hogan, he messed it all up. Went and did his own thing. Kinda like when you plan a big picnic and then it rains. Ruins the whole darn thing.
The Walk of Fame and All That Jazz
I also heard Bret got some kinda fancy award, put his name on some walk of fame up in Canada. Good for him, I say. He deserved it. He worked hard, that fella. Always gave it his all, even when things weren’t fair. He’s like that ol’ dog we used to have, always faithful, always tryin’ his best.
So, Who Really Won the Tug of War?
So, who won that tug of war between Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan? Well, I reckon nobody did. They never really had a proper fight, not like they should have. And that’s a shame, I tell ya. It’s like havin’ a pie sittin’ on the counter, lookin’ all delicious, but you never get to taste it. What a waste!
Hogan Went His Own Way
Hogan, he went his way, winnin’ championships in that other wrestling place and then he went back to the first one, winnin’ more titles there too. He was a big draw, they say, lots of folks comin’ to see him wrestle. But I still think he shoulda wrestled Bret, give him that chance. It ain’t right to leave things undone. Reminds me of that half-finished quilt I got up in the attic. Gotta get around to finishin’ that someday.
Bret and Hogan, Two Different Kinds of Wrestlers
Bret and Hogan, they were different, you see. Hogan was all about bein’ big and strong, Bret was about bein’ clever and quick. Like two different kinds of cars. Hogan was a big ol’ truck, Bret was a sports car, zippin’ around. Both good, but different. And I think that’s why people wanted to see them fight. See who was really the best. Kinda like when you have two different kinds of apples, and you wanna see which one tastes better.
In the End, It’s Just a Story
But in the end, it’s just a story, ain’t it? A story about two wrestlers, a championship, and a match that never really happened. And like all stories, it makes you think. Makes you wonder what coulda been. And that’s alright, I guess. Life’s full of “what ifs,” ain’t it? Like what if I’d married that fella from down the road instead of my old man? Who knows what woulda happened?
Bret Hart, The Real Champion
For my money, Bret was the real champion. He might not have had all those belts like Hogan, but he had somethin’ better. He had heart. He had skill. And he had the respect of the fans. And that, I reckon, is worth more than any old championship belt. It’s like havin’ good friends instead of just a bunch of acquaintances. Friends are worth more, ya know?
So there you have it, my two cents on this Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan tug of war. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, just an old woman who likes a good story. And this here, well, it’s a pretty good story, even if it ain’t got a real happy ending. But then again, most stories don’t, do they? Life ain’t always a fairy tale, that’s for sure.
