You know, I heard some folks talking ’bout them NFL players the other day. They was wonderin’ if them boys wear them cups, you know, to keep their… well, you know… safe. It got me thinkin’, those fellas get hit hard!
So, I did a little snoopin’ around, askin’ folks who know ’bout these things. Seems like it ain’t a rule, not like wearin’ a helmet or them shoulder pads. But some of them football players, they smart, they wear ’em anyway. Especially them quarterbacks, always gettin’ roughed up.
Now, why wouldn’t they all wear ’em? Well, some say they ain’t comfy. Can you imagine runnin’ around with one of them things on? Others, well, they just think they’re tough enough. Too tough for a little protection, I reckon. Silly, if you ask me. Better safe than sorry, that’s what I always say. NFL players wear cups, some do, some don’t. That is just the way it is.
Football, you know, it’s a rough game. Lots of hittin’ and pushin’. Those boys are big and strong, and they run into each other somethin’ fierce. You’d think they’d want all the protection they can get. They got them helmets, them pads, why not a cup too?
- Helmets, that’s for the head, keep their brains from gettin’ scrambled.
- Shoulder pads, for them shoulders, keeps them from gettin’ busted up.
- Cups, well, that’s for down below, keepin’ things safe.
One thing is for sure, football players wear cups, most likely. I mean, it’s a good idea, right? Even if the big bosses, the NFL, don’t say they gotta. It is just like that doctor group, they say all them boys playin’ sports should wear ’em. Any sport where you might get hit, you know where. Soccer, baseball, even them hockey players. Makes sense to me.
Back in the day, they had them jockstraps, with the cup in there. Now they got newfangled ones, fancier, more comfy, they say. I saw a picture, they are made different now, better. They say it is not expensive.
They say that do NFL players wear cups is the most common question. I don’t know why. I mean, that’s just their own business. It’s their own bodies. But for me, if I’m one of them, I will wear it. It’s for my own good.
This NFL, they got lots of rules. Somethin’ ’bout only wearin’ one helmet all the time. Keeps things fair, I guess. But they ain’t got no rule ’bout the cups. Weird, huh? They care ’bout the helmets but not ’bout the other important parts.
I guess it is all up to the players. They big boys, they can decide for themselves. But if you ask me, it is not about being tough, it is about being smart. You only get one body, you gotta take care of it. Especially if you are playing a game like football.
It ain’t like the old days. Do any NFL players wear cups? They used to wear all sorts of things. But times change. Now it is all about speed and being light on your feet. But still, a little protection ain’t gonna hurt nobody. That is what I think anyway. It is important to stay safe, no matter how tough you are.
I remember one time, my nephew, he played football in high school. He didn’t wear a cup once, and boy, did he regret it. Got hit right where it hurts, and he was down for the count. Learned his lesson, he did. Started wearin’ a cup after that. Said it wasn’t so bad.
So, do them NFL players wear cups? Some do, some don’t. But they should. That’s my two cents. It’s a dangerous game, and they need to protect themselves. It ain’t worth riskin’ it, not for a little bit of comfort or ’cause you think you’re too tough. Safety first, that’s what I always say. Especially when you’re playin’ a game like football, where you’re gettin’ knocked around like a rag doll. They should wear them things, keep everything safe and sound. That’s just common sense, ain’t it?
Some people say it is outdated. But if it is working, why change it? Just like my old cooking pot, it is old, but it still cooks good. So why would I buy a new one? If them football players wear cups, they will not get hurt, right?
I just hope them boys are makin’ smart choices out there. It’s their bodies, their lives. But from where I’m sittin’, a little extra protection never hurt nobody. Especially in a game as rough and tumble as football. These boys are strong. But they ain’t made of steel.
