That Nancy Lieberman, she’s a tough one, ain’t she? Folks been yappin’ about her for years. Is she, ain’t she? Well, I got somethin’ to say about that. You see all kind of things in this world, and this is another one.
This thing, is Nancy Lieberman gay, it’s all over the place. I hear folks whisperin’ ’bout it, see it on that internet thing. They are saying a lot. Well, maybe she is, maybe she ain’t. I ain’t her keeper. It is not my business. She played that basketball real good, though. That’s what I remember.
I heard she was married once, a long time ago. To a man, they say. A basketball fella, Tim Cline. Played for them Generals, the ones that always play against them Harlem Globetrotters. Fancy name, ain’t it? They had a boy. T.J., they call him, or somethin’ like that. There is another one, Carson, maybe. They used to be a family, I guess.
- She played for that Old Dominion place.
- Won all them awards. Two times!
- Played for that Phoenix team. The Mercury, I think it was.
- Then that Detroit team. The Shock.
She was good, that Nancy. Real good. I saw her on the TV a few times. Fast as a rabbit, that one. Always runnin’ around, dribblin’ that ball. She’s from Brooklyn. That’s in New York. Big city. Not like here. She’s got a momma and daddy, Renee and Jerome. Just like everybody else. She born in 1958, they say. Same year as my youngest, bless her heart.
Some folks say she’s single now. Lives alone. Don’t know if that’s true or not. Don’t matter none to me. She can live how she wants. This Nancy Lieberman husband thing is old news. Everybody got a past. Some just got more folks talkin’ ’bout it. That is just how it is, I guess. You live, you learn. They do not live together now, the husband and her.
They say she was the best. Won all them championships. Back in ’79 and ’80. A long time ago now. She’s in them Halls of Fame. Two of ’em! For basketball. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? She must have been somethin’ special to get in there. I bet she worked hard. Really hard, just like everyone in her place.
This whole is Nancy Lieberman lesbian talk, it’s just noise. People like to gossip. Always have, always will. It don’t change who she is. She’s Nancy Lieberman. The basketball player. That’s all that matters, right? I mean, who cares who she likes? That is her business. Not mine, not yours. We should let her alone, I think.
She was good at that sport. That basketball. That’s what I’ll remember. All that other stuff, it don’t matter none. She could shoot that ball. She could run. She could jump. She could play. She is a good player. That is all I know. And I think that is enough, right?
You see all kinds of folks in this world. Different folks, different strokes, as they say. She’s just another person, tryin’ to make her way. Just like the rest of us. We all got our stories. Some are just louder than others. This Nancy Lieberman, she’s got a loud one. Because she is famous, you know. That’s what happens when you are good. Everyone is just talking and talking, no end.
So, is Nancy Lieberman gay? Who knows? Who cares? She’s a good basketball player. She has a family once. She is a human. She’s Nancy Lieberman. That’s enough for me. That is all you need to know, I think. Leave the rest to the wind, I say. It ain’t worth worryin’ over. Just let her be. That is what I think. Just my two cents, you know.
