This here game, Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers, it’s a real barn burner, I tell ya! Lots of folks watchin’, wonderin’ who’s gonna come out on top. I seen a lot of games in my time, and this one, well, it’s got all the fixin’s of a real good one.
Now, them player stats, that’s what the young’uns all talk about. They got numbers for this and numbers for that. Seems like they got a number for just about everything these days. How many hits, how many runs, how many times they scratch their noses. It’s a lot to keep up with, I tell ya.
- That Shohei fella, they say he’s somethin’ else.
- Heard he can hit that ball clean outta the park.
- But that Schwellenbach, he kept him quiet this time.
I heard them Braves, they won 3 outta the last 5 games. And lost 2. That ain’t too bad, but that 3.2 is what they get each game, I don’t know what they are. Them Dodgers, well, they’re tough cookies, that’s for sure. They got a whole lotta wins under their belts too. They are strong, just like the young boys in my hometown.
This here match, it was on May 03. I remember ’cause my old bones was achin’ somethin’ fierce that day. Rain was comin’, I could feel it. And these boys, they was out there playin’ in the sun, like it was nothin’.
One thing’s for sure, both these teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers, they both know how to play ball. They been good for a long time, winning and such. Reminds me of back in the day, when we used to have them town ball games. Everyone would come out, and the whole town would be there. It was a real hootenanny.
And them shirts, they got all kinds of shirts. Atlanta Braves shirts, all different colors. Blue ones, gray ones. Even them bigger folks got shirts that fit ’em. They cost near $30, I seen. My, my, things sure are different these days. Back in my day, we were happy with an old flour sack to cover our backs!
Back in ’69, I think that’s what they said, the Mets, they beat the Braves. But these things, they go back and forth. One day you’re up, the next day you’re down. Just like the weather, it changes on ya in a heartbeat. These Dodgers were like 9-2 when this Brusdar fella came to help, sounds like a tough guy.
That Freeman fella, used to be with the Braves, now he’s with the Dodgers. They couldn’t agree on the money, I reckon. That’s the big thing with these young folks now. Money, money, money. He got a big, fancy contract now. $162 million, I hear. I can’t even count that high. That’s enough to buy the whole county I grew up in! His name is Frederick Charles Freeman, such a long name.
I remember one time, we had a fella in our town, name of old man Johnson. He could hit a ball a country mile. Didn’t need no fancy numbers or nothin’. Just knew how to play. He would have been good with these Braves or these Dodgers. He didn’t play for neither, though. Just played for the love of the game. That’s somethin’ you don’t see much of these days.
These player stats, they tell you a lot, I guess. But they don’t tell ya everything. Don’t tell ya about the heart of a player. Don’t tell ya about the grit and the determination. That’s somethin’ you gotta see for yourself. That’s like my old cow, Betsy. She didn’t have no fancy numbers, but she gave the best milk in the county. I hope I can see more Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers match, and their player stats will be better.
This Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers match, it’s more than just a game. It’s a story. A story about two teams, battlin’ it out. A story about the players, givin’ it their all. A story about the fans, cheerin’ them on. It’s a good story, I tell ya. One for the ages. Just like my life, a long, long story full of ups and downs. But we keep on going, just like these baseball players. We just keep on going.
