Well, let me tell you about this thing, this teryllium putter. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just a golf stick, you know, for hittin’ that little white ball. My grandson, he’s all into this golf. He showed it to me. Says it’s special.
This here putter, it’s got somethin’ called “teryllium.” Now, I ain’t never heard of no “teryllium” before. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a science book. He says it’s a bunch of metals all mixed up. Twelve of ’em! Can you believe that? Twelve different metals all squished together to make a golf stick. And there is somethin’ behide it called, um, “elastomer”.
He told me, it makes it feel “soft” when you hit the ball. Soft like butter, I reckon. Not like them old clunkers that make your hands sting. He let me try it. It did feel kinda nice, I gotta admit. Not that I know anything about golf.
This fella, Scotty Cameron, he’s the one who makes these things. My grandson, he talks about him like he’s some kinda god or somethin’. Says he’s the best putter maker there is. He’s been makin’ ’em for a long time, I guess. Even that Tiger fella, the famous golfer, you know the one, he uses one of these Scotty Cameron things. I saw it on the TV. That must be a good one. There is a little dot on it. They say it is a very good putter.
They got all kinds of these putters. Blades and mallets, they call ’em. Sounds like somethin’ you’d use in the kitchen. And somethin’ about “toe-balanced.” I don’t know what that means. My grandson tried to explain it, but it went right over my head. He says it’s about how the putter swings. Some folks like ’em one way, some folks like ’em another. This Scotty Cameron, he has all the styles.
These new ones, they call ’em T22. Fancy name, right? They look all shiny and new. Made from some kind of metal called 303 stainless steel. Sounds tough, don’t it? I guess it is, the grandson tells me it’s strong stuff. He says they’re milled, is that what he said? Means they’re made real precise, real careful. Like carvin’ a turkey, but with metal. They have black color on them. My grandson said it is cool.
These new ones are based on some older ones, something called Tel3 models. They made these T22 putters from the older ones. So I guess they’re like an improved version. They sure look fancy.
And get this, they got these little weights in ’em. You can take ’em out and change ’em around. Like tinkerin’ with a car engine, I suppose. My grandson, he loves messin’ with things like that. He says it makes the putter feel different, makes it swing better. I guess it’s like addin’ sugar to your coffee, you can make it just the way you like it. These weights, they are on the bottom. One on each side. They say it is for “stability”.
- This teryllium putter, it’s somethin’ else.
- All these fancy names and metals.
- Teryllium, elastomer, T22, 303 stainless steel.
- It’s a lot to take in.
- But I guess it makes a difference to them golfers.
- If it helps ’em get that little ball in the hole, then more power to ’em.
My grandson, he’s all excited about these new T22 putters. He wants one real bad. They’re probably expensive. Golf is an expensive game, ain’t it? All these fancy clubs and balls and clothes. Back in my day, we just used a stick and a rock. But I guess times change. Still, it is good to see him so passionate about somethin’. He really loves this golf game. And he really likes this Scotty Cameron fella.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this teryllium putter. It’s a fancy golf stick, made by a fella named Scotty Cameron, and it’s got all kinds of special things about it. If you’re into golf, you probably already know all this. But for an old lady like me, it’s all a bit much. I still think the old way is better. But I guess this is the way things are now. These young folks and their fancy gadgets. They sure love ’em.
