Well, let me tell you, I done heard some news ’bout this Venus Williams and that Atlanta Open thing. Sounds like a big deal, right? So, this Venus, she’s a big shot in that tennis game.
She was born somewhere called Lynwood, California. Her daddy, Richard Williams, and her mama, Oracene Price, they raised her up. That family, they moved to Compton, and that’s where this Venus, she started playing that tennis game when she was just a little bitty thing, just four years old!

Her daddy, he taught her and her sister, Serena, right at home. Smart man. They was playin’ tennis all the time. That gal, Venus, she got real good, real fast. Became the number one, I hear. First black woman to ever do it! That is somethin’.
She done won a whole mess of them Grand Slam titles. Seven in singles, whatever that means, and fourteen in doubles with her sister. They sure are somethin’, them Williams girls. They say she’s gonna be at this Atlanta Open thing. It is a big deal, that I know.

That Atlanta Open, that’s a big tennis event down there in Atlanta, at the Atlantic Station. I hear it’s gonna be in July, from the 20th to the 28th. Folks gonna come from all over to see it, I reckon.

They got two of them sessions each day, one in the afternoon and one at night. Your ticket, it gets you into every match that day, they say. This whole thing seems complicated. I don’t know about it.
But anyway, this Venus Williams, she’s a big deal in that tennis world. And this Atlanta Open, that’s where all the big tennis folks go. They playin’ that tennis game, back and forth, back and forth. It is a sight to see.

That tennis game, it sure is somethin’. They hit that little ball back and forth, over that net. Seems like a lot of runnin’ around to me. But them players, they sure do love it. This whole Venus Williams Atlanta Open thing is something people are excited for. It is easy to know that.
I reckon if I was younger, I might go down there to Atlanta and see what all the fuss is about. But these days, I’m happy just sittin’ on my porch. But you young folks, you go on and enjoy that Atlanta Open. And tell that Venus Williams I said hello! Maybe I will watch it on the TV. Maybe I can learn a thing or two.
