She started young, this one. Even when she was just a little girl in school, she was winning. They have this thing, KLPGA, that’s like a big deal over in Korea for golf. She won a big one, the SK Enclean thing. Then she went pro, that’s what they call it when you get paid to play. Jiyai Shin, she makes a lot of money hitting that ball. She won that Australian Open thing twice, I heard.

But life ain’t always easy, even for the best. Jiyai, she had it rough. Her mama died, car crash. Terrible thing. She was just 16, a baby herself. Her little brother and sister, they got hurt real bad too. Spent a long time in the hospital, poor things. But you know what? That insurance money, from her mama passing, that’s what helped her with the golf. Sad, ain’t it? But she made something good out of it.
