This here house, it’s old, you know? Walls all bare. I saw them young’uns with their fancy phones, all them pretty pictures. Got me thinkin’, maybe I should spruce this place up a bit. This fella, Chandler, seems like he’s got some nice chandler wallpaper. I reckon that’s what I need. Make these walls look less like a sad, empty barn.
Figurin’ Out This Wallpaper Thing
Now, I ain’t no expert. Never did this before. But how hard can it be, right? Just gotta stick it up there. These young folks make it look easy on them little screens. They got all sorts of chandler wallpaper designs. Flowers, stripes, even ones that look like bricks. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I think I saw some with birds on ’em. That’d be nice. Like havin’ little friends all over the walls.
First thing’s first, gotta get this wallpaper. Seems like this Chandler fella sells it. Hope it ain’t too pricey. Old folks like me, we ain’t made of money. But a little somethin’ to brighten the place up, that’d be worth a few pennies.
- Get that chandler wallpaper.
- Find somethin’ to stick it up with. Glue, I reckon.
- Maybe somethin’ to smooth it out. Don’t want no bumpy walls.
Stickin’ It Up There
I saw one of them videos, a young lady, she was puttin’ up wallpaper. Made it look like a piece of cake. She had this long stick, I think that’s a tool for making sure wallpaper is straight. You know, like when you hang a picture, gotta make sure it ain’t crooked. Same idea, I guess. This thing, this line, she called it a “plum line”. Sounds fancy.
Then she measured the wall. Top to bottom. Said somethin’ about leavin’ extra on the ends. Three, four inches. Makes sense. Better to have too much than not enough, right? Can always cut off the extra. And there was a roll of chandler wallpaper adhesive. I guess this thing is a glue. I gotta put this sticky thing on the wall.
Then she just started stickin’ that paper up there. Top to bottom. Had a little tool, looked like a flat piece of plastic. Used it to push out the air bubbles. Don’t want no bubbles in my chandler wallpaper. Gotta make it nice and smooth, like a baby’s bottom. These young’uns got all these fancy words, they call it a “smoothing tool.” I might need to get one of them. Or maybe a good, strong hand will do the trick. We’ll see.
Cut and Paste
Now, I ain’t never been one for fancy tools. But a good knife, that’s somethin’ everyone needs. Seems like you need one of them for this wallpaper job, too. For cuttin’ off the extra bits. They got these special knives, apparently. Blades that snap off. Keeps ’em sharp, I guess. Might have to get me one of them. Two sizes, they say. Don’t know which one I need. Maybe the small one. Don’t want nothin’ too big and clumsy.
Some of these wallpapers, they come already sticky. “Pre-pasted,” they call it. Just gotta dip ’em in water, then fold ’em up. “Book the wallpaper,” that’s what they say. Sounds like somethin’ out of a library. But I guess it makes sense. Keeps the sticky part from stickin’ to everythin’ else.
Hope It Turns Out Right
This whole chandler wallpaper thing, it’s a bit of an adventure for an old gal like me. But I’m excited. Gonna make this old house feel a little more like home. A little less lonely. Maybe I’ll get one of them floral ones. Or the ones with the birds. Or maybe somethin’ completely different. Who knows? The possibilities are endless, as they say. Even for an old timer like me. It’ll be a nice change, seein’ somethin’ pretty on these walls. It will make me happy. For a long time, my life has been boring, but this chandler wallpaper will bring some fun.
I hear some of them come with instructions. Gotta read those carefully. Don’t want to mess this up. But even if I do, it ain’t the end of the world. Just gotta peel it off and start over. Like bakin’ a pie. Sometimes you gotta try a few times before you get it right. I have many experiences with this. And I know, if I do it wrong, I can always put that chandler wallpaper on again.
Wish me luck. This old gal’s gonna try her hand at somethin’ new. Maybe I’ll even surprise myself. It has been 20 years since I hung a chandler wallpaper. Hope it turns out alright. If it does, maybe I’ll do the whole house. One room at a time, though. Gotta take it slow. These old bones ain’t as young as they used to be. This is how I feel now. I feel good. I feel I can do it.
