Okay, so yesterday, I finally got around to trying out those Nitro golf balls everyone’s been talking about. I’ve been seeing them everywhere, and with the price being so good, I figured, why not? Here’s how it went down.
First, I grabbed a box of the Nitro Maximum Distance and a box of the Nitro Ultimate Distance. I wanted to see what the fuss was about with both kinds. Heard some folks saying they are almost the same, while others swear there is a difference.
- Went to the driving range first.
- Warmed up with my usual balls, just to get a feel for the day.
Hitting the Nitro Maximum Distance
Man, these things fly! I mean, seriously, I was hitting them farther than my usual brand. It felt like the ball just exploded off the clubface. I’m no pro, but I usually get a decent distance, and these were going further for sure. I guess the “Resilient Polybutadiene Core” they talk about really works. I’m not exactly sure what that means, but it sounds fancy, and the ball sure does go far.
I did a little test. Switched between my regular ball and the Nitro. It wasn’t even close. The Nitro was consistently longer. It felt like it had more bounce, you know, like it had more energy when I hit it.
Trying the Nitro Ultimate Distance
Now, these were supposed to be even longer, right? I tried them next. They felt a bit different. Maybe a little harder? Not sure. They were also going far, but honestly, not much farther than the Maximum Distance ones. Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t see a huge difference in distance between the two Nitro balls.
I kept switching between the two Nitro types, just to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. They both felt pretty similar in terms of how far they went. I even measured a few with my rangefinder. They were both hitting around the 317-yard mark, which is pretty crazy for me.
The Nitro balls feel different than my regular, expensive balls. They are a bit harder and louder when you hit them. They definitely go farther though. For the price, they are a good option. They won’t be replacing my gamer balls for tournaments or serious rounds, but they are going into my practice bag for sure. Maybe on wide-open courses, I’ll even let one rip and see what happens. Overall, I’d say these Nitro golf balls are worth a try if you want to see some extra distance without breaking the bank.
I’ll keep hitting these things and let you guys know if anything changes. But for now, color me impressed.
