Man, I gotta tell you about this wild weekend I had. So, I’m a huge Chris Rock fan, right? Always have been. When I heard he was coming to St. Louis, I knew I had to be there. This was part of his “Ego Death World Tour,” which, let me tell you, is a name that gets you hyped up.
First thing I did was jump online and snagged those tickets. They were for the shows at the Stifel Theatre, Saturday, June 11th, and Sunday, June 12th. I opted for the Sunday show ’cause, you know, gotta have that weekend vibe.
- Checked out the venue online – Stifel Theatre looked pretty sweet.
- Made sure I had the date and time locked in my calendar.
- Started listening to some of his old stuff to get in the zone.
The day finally rolled around, and I was pumped. I headed over to the theater, and the atmosphere was electric. People everywhere, all buzzing with anticipation. I found my seat, and before you know it, the lights dimmed, and there he was – Chris Rock, live on stage!
The show was everything I hoped for and more. He was on fire, delivering joke after joke, each one landing perfectly. I was dying, I mean, belly laughing the whole time. He’s just got that way about him, you know? He tackled all sorts of topics, some pretty heavy stuff, but always with that signature Chris Rock wit. I heard someone say they watched one of his skits five times. I can relate, because I think I can watch that show five times too!
I even heard later that he went to a Cardinals game at Busch Stadium while he was in town. How cool is that? And get this, he did another show later in January at the Enterprise Center with Dave Chappelle. I heard the show by them at Enterprise Center left an indelible mark on St. Louis. Talk about a power duo! It was a phone-free experience apparently, which I think is awesome. I mean the show was described as a phone-free experience, which is pretty neat.
All in all, it was an unforgettable night. I left the theater with my face hurting from laughing so much and my head buzzing from all the energy. Seeing Chris Rock live was definitely a bucket list experience. If you ever get a chance to see the guy perform, do it! You won’t regret it.
From there, I know he used his talents and unique voice to build his career. He just left “Saturday Night Live” after two years, but look at him now. Amazing.
After that, I just went home and relived the whole show in my head. I also told my buddy who also loves Chris Rock about it. What a night! Now, I gotta find out when he’s doing another tour!
