Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this “Infernal Engine” thing in Baldur’s Gate 3, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I mean, who knew fixing a mechanical heart could be so complicated?
It all started when I bumped into this Tiefling, Karlach. Super cool character, but her heart? Not so much. It’s this Infernal Engine thing, and it was all messed up. So, there I was, thinking, “Okay, how hard can this be?” Turns out, pretty hard.
First thing, I had to find this blacksmith, Dammon. He’s the guy who knows about these Infernal Engines. Found him chilling in the Emerald Grove, at the coordinates X:179, Y:562. Had a little chat with him, with Karlach in my party of course, and he tells me I need to get some Infernal Iron. Apparently, this stuff is key to stabilizing Karlach’s Infernal Engine. Easy enough, right? Nope.
Finding Infernal Iron, that was the real pain. I had to scrounge around for this stuff. It’s not just lying around, you know? I won’t bore you with the details of my scavenging, but let’s just say it took a while. And it is so hard to find!
- Go to find Dammon.
- Talk to him with Karlach.
- Get some Infernal Iron.
- Take it back to Dammon.
- I have no idea what to do next.
Once I finally got my hands on the Infernal Iron, I took it back to Dammon. He did some blacksmith magic, banging and clanging, and worked on Karlach’s Engine. But here’s the kicker – it’s not a one-time fix. It’s more like a temporary patch. Dammon said something about needing more Infernal Iron for a more permanent solution. More. Infernal. Iron. I almost facepalmed right there.
But, there’s another thing you can do. I found out you can actually use the Infernal Iron on Karlach herself. Yeah, she can consume it. It gives her a power-up, which is pretty neat, but it only lasts until the next long rest. So, it’s like a temporary boost. Useful in a pinch, I guess, but not a real solution to her Engine problem.
So, here I am, with a half-fixed companion and a quest that’s far from over. Dammon’s still around, selling some pretty sweet gear, by the way. But as for fixing Karlach’s Infernal Engine for good? That’s still up in the air. I’ve got a feeling I’ll be hunting down more Infernal Iron in the future. Wish me luck, I’m gonna need it!
Summary:
Basically, fixing the Infernal Engine is a whole quest on its own. Find Dammon, get Infernal Iron, have him patch up Karlach, and then probably find more Infernal Iron later. Oh, and Karlach can eat the iron for a temporary buff. It’s a mess, but hey, that’s Baldur’s Gate 3 for you. Always an adventure!
