Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another story from my life. Today, it’s all about my son, Cam Caminiti. You know, watching your kid grow up and chase his dreams is something else. I just had to share this journey with y’all.
So, Cam’s been crazy about baseball since he was a little tyke. I remember when he was just starting out, all he wanted to do was swing a bat. I always told him, “You’re just a baseball kid,” and boy, was I right.
His mom, Tracey, and I, we’ve always been his biggest fans. Tracey’s been amazing, always there, making sure he’s got everything he needs. Me? I just try to keep up, haha.
Now, some of you might know that Cam’s related to Ken Caminiti, the baseball player who won the Silver Slugger Award back in ’96. Yeah, that’s my family. But honestly, Cam’s making his own name now, and I couldn’t be prouder.
We’ve been to so many of his games, it’s insane. One of the most memorable trips was to Jupiter. It was his last PG tourney ever. Man, those weekends, seeing all the other baseball moms and dads, it’s a wild ride. You gotta enjoy every single moment, you know?
- First game of the season: Cam was so pumped, you could feel the energy. He hit a homer in the first inning!
- Mid-season slump: Everyone hits a rough patch. Cam was down, but we kept encouraging him. “Keep swinging,” I’d say.
- Championship game: It all came down to this. Cam was up to bat with bases loaded, two outs, bottom of the ninth. He hit a grand slam! We went nuts!
And then came the big news. The Braves selected Cam in the 2024 draft. I’m telling you, when we heard, we were over the moon. He’s one of the top prospects, even made it to the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list. Can you believe it? My son, up there with the best.
Cam’s always been a hard worker. He was born on August 8, 2006. He was the youngest on the team for a while, but it didn’t matter because his skill level was always up there with the older guys. He put in the hours, the sweat, the tears. He earned every bit of this. Tracey and I are just bursting with pride.
Being a dad to this kid has been the greatest thing. Watching him grow, supporting his dreams, it’s what it’s all about. And to all you parents out there, cherish these moments. They go by fast, but the memories? Those last forever.
So, here’s to Cam. My son, the baseball star. I’m so damn proud of you, kid. Keep swinging for the fences.
What I’ve learned:
- Support is everything: Being there for your kids, no matter what, makes a huge difference.
- Hard work pays off: Cam’s dedication shows that if you put in the work, you can achieve your dreams.
- Enjoy the ride: These moments are precious. Don’t forget to enjoy every single one.
That’s it for now, folks. Thanks for letting me share this with you. Until next time, stay awesome!
