Okay, so I’ve been watching wrestling for a while now, and SummerSlam is always a big one. I got really into keeping track of how good the matches were, you know, rating them and all that. So, I figured I’d share how I went about doing that for this year’s SummerSlam. It was a bit of a mess, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
First, I had to make sure I didn’t miss a single match. I mean, you can’t rate them if you haven’t seen them! I sat down with my notebook and a pen – yeah, I’m old school like that. The first thing I wrote was Logan Paul vs. Ricochet. I knew it’s the first match. I watched it closely, jotting down every cool move and near fall. I even tried to give it a score right there, but I figured I should wait until the whole show was over to keep it fair. I was trying to remember, someone said this match opened SummerSlam 2023, and it was pretty good.
I kept going like this for each match. I tried to pay attention to how the crowd reacted, ’cause that’s a big part of it, isn’t it? Some matches were obviously better than others. I remember seeing something online about Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart being one of the best SummerSlam matches ever. I wasn’t there to see it, but I sure did watch it later. For this one, I had to rely on what I saw and what other folks were saying. I mean, everyone has different tastes, right? But there are some matches that are just classics, no matter what.
Then there’s the whole thing about stars. I saw some guy online, Drew McIntyre I think, got four stars for his match with Randy Orton. And someone named Asuka had two matches that got over three stars. I don’t know, stars always seemed kinda arbitrary to me, but it’s a good way to quickly see which matches people liked the most. I tried to be fair, but honestly, sometimes I’d get caught up in the excitement and probably gave a higher rating than I should have!
The main event was a whole other story. I heard about Roman Reigns making a surprise appearance. That was wild! Everyone was talking about it. And apparently, he showed up to help out his old buddy after losing some big match at WrestleMania. It was crazy. I was glued to the screen, scribbling notes like mad. It’s one of the highlights on Aug 5, 2024. That match definitely got a high rating from me, I can tell you that much.
I saw some website where fans voted on the best SummerSlam matches. That’s kinda cool, getting everyone’s opinion like that. Over 300 fans, they said. It’s interesting to see how other people felt about the matches, especially the older ones that I didn’t get to watch live.
- Watched every match from start to finish.
- Wrote down notes on big moments, crowd reactions, and my own thoughts.
- Considered using a star rating system, but it felt kinda weird to me.
- Compared my ratings to what other fans and reviewers were saying online.
- Got super excited about the surprise return and probably over-rated that match, but whatever!
So, that’s basically how I did it. It wasn’t super scientific or anything, but it made watching SummerSlam even more fun. Plus, now I have this cool record of all my thoughts on the matches. Maybe next year I’ll try a different system, or maybe I’ll just stick to my trusty notebook. Who knows! It’s all about enjoying the show, right? And hey, maybe this will give you some ideas on how to rate matches yourself. Just remember, there’s no right or wrong way to do it – it’s all about your own personal enjoyment.
