Man, let me tell you about this wild ride I went on the other day. So, I’ve always been a huge wrestling fan, right? And one of the most legendary things in wrestling is The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania. I mean, this dude was undefeated at the biggest show of the year for over two decades! It’s insane when you think about it.
So, I decided to dig into this whole ‘Streak’ thing. Started with where it all began, way back in 1991 at WrestleMania VII. This was early in The Undertaker’s career, and he was squashing jobbers left and right. His first WrestleMania match was against Jimmy Snuka. I watched that match, and it was a pretty quick win for The Undertaker, setting the stage for what would become an epic run.
Then, I started going through each WrestleMania, one by one. I watched him beat Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Giant Gonzalez, and even faced off against his own ‘brother’, Kane. Each win was different, each match had its own story. It was like watching history unfold before my eyes.
- WrestleMania VII: Defeated Jimmy Snuka
- WrestleMania VIII: Defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts
- WrestleMania IX: Defeated Giant Gonzalez
- WrestleMania XI: Defeated King Kong Bundy
- WrestleMania XII: Defeated Diesel
- WrestleMania 13: Defeated Sycho Sid
- WrestleMania XIV: Defeated Kane
- WrestleMania XV: Defeated Big Boss Man
- WrestleMania X-Seven: Defeated Triple H
- WrestleMania X8: Defeated Ric Flair
- WrestleMania XIX: Defeated Big Show and A-Train
- WrestleMania XX: Defeated Kane
- WrestleMania 21: Defeated Randy Orton
- WrestleMania 22: Defeated Mark Henry
- WrestleMania 23: Defeated Batista
- WrestleMania XXIV: Defeated Edge
- WrestleMania XXV: Defeated Shawn Michaels
- WrestleMania XXVI: Defeated Shawn Michaels
- WrestleMania XXVII: Defeated Triple H
- WrestleMania XXVIII: Defeated Triple H
- WrestleMania 29: Defeated CM Punk
I got really into it around the time he faced Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25 and 26. Those were some of the best matches I’ve ever seen, seriously. The drama, the near falls, the storytelling… it was all top-notch. I found myself on the edge of my seat, even though I already knew the outcome. And then, he beat CM Punk. That takes us up to 21 wins.
But, you know, all good things must come to an end. I finally got to WrestleMania 30, where The Undertaker faced Brock Lesnar. Now, everyone, including me, thought The Undertaker was gonna win. But, man, was I wrong. After three F-5s, Lesnar pinned The Undertaker. I remember watching it live and the whole crowd was dead silent. You could hear a pin drop. It was one of the most shocking moments in wrestling history. I found myself rewatching that again and again, and it took a while for it to actually sink in.
It’s funny, looking back at it now. The Streak was such a huge part of WWE, and it’s still hard to believe it’s over. But, you know what? It was an incredible run, and it cemented The Undertaker’s legacy as one of the greatest of all time. I spent hours going through all this, and it just made me appreciate his career even more. It was a wild ride.
