Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another wild story, and this one’s a doozy. So, you know how I love digging into old real estate deals, right? Well, I stumbled upon something really interesting about Nick Saban’s time in Baton Rouge. Yep, that Nick Saban, the legendary football coach. I was all over this like a cheap suit, couldn’t resist!
First, I hit up all the usual spots – property records, old news articles, you name it. I found out that back in the day when Saban was coaching for LSU, he had a pad in Baton Rouge. But get this, it wasn’t just any house, it was some kind of fancy estate, sold for a good chunk of change at a time. It was over on Highland Road. Fancy, huh?
So, naturally, I dug deeper. I scoured through articles and listings. There was this one from way back in 2009 that talked about the estate being under contract. Then, another one a couple of years later saying it finally sold to some corporation from Arkansas. It was also interesting to see a property Saban owned near Kenilworth Parkway being sold. That one had a sales tag of $2.6 million.
- Started looking for the property on maps, trying to get a feel for the place.
- Checked out some recent listings and saw that the price point mentioned for homes like that was around $10.9 million. Crazy, right?
- The home sounds pretty sweet though. I read that it’s massive, something like 10,000 square feet, and it’s spread over three levels, and also it has a wine cellar. The guy had a nice thing going.
But, I was curious, who bought it? Who was lucky enough to snag such a prime piece of real estate? I kept digging. It’s wild, but it was a corporation, not a person, that ended up with it. I found a report stating that the sale was done by an Arkansas corporation. I wondered who was the lucky buyer to get that estate.
I learned, according to one of the reports, that Saban seemed to regret leaving LSU. He went to the pros, but he said he loved his time there. That got me thinking.
I also found out that Saban bought a huge oceanfront estate on Jupiter Island for a jaw-dropping $17.5 million! And guess what? This place was initially listed for $21.5 million, but he got it after a price drop. Saban’s just the latest big shot from the sports world to call Jupiter Island home. Can you believe it?
I even found out about another property of Saban, in Tuscaloosa. 9,000 sq ft, 7 bedrooms, and 5 bathrooms. He paid $3 million for it in 2013. This was great info, but it wasn’t in Baton Rouge.
I spent hours piecing all this together. It was like solving a puzzle, and I was hooked. This whole thing with Saban’s house in Baton Rouge, it’s not just about the house, it’s about the story behind it, the history, you know?
Conclusion Time
So, what’s the takeaway from all this? Well, first off, real estate in these parts can be insane. And second, sometimes the story behind a house is way more interesting than the house itself. I learned a lot with this, and it was a blast sharing it with all of you!
Anyway, that’s all for now, folks. Stay tuned for more of my crazy adventures in the world of real estate and who knows what else. Catch you later!
