I recently picked up Cyberpunk 2077 again, you know, with that big 2.0 update and all the hype around it. I gotta say, the game looks amazing, feels tighter, but man, it was crashing like crazy on my PC. Drove me nuts!
I looked it up online, turns out I wasn’t the only one. Lots of people were having issues, but there were tons of different “fixes” floating around. So, I started trying stuff out.
First, I made sure my PC was clean. No viruses, no malware, nothing like that. Then I shut down everything that wasn’t absolutely needed, even my antivirus. Still crashing.
- Reinstalled the whole damn game. I saw some folks saying you had to do that after the 2.0 update. It was a pain, but I did it. No luck. Still crashing.
- Moved the game to a new SSD. I even went out and bought a new NVME M2 drive just for this! Thought maybe my old drive was the problem. Nope. Still crashing.
Then I found this one post where a guy said he capped his FPS to match his monitor’s refresh rate. I was like, “What the heck, why not?” Went into the video settings, set the max FPS, and boom! No more crashes.
It’s been running smooth ever since. I can finally enjoy the game without it constantly crashing on me. Honestly, it was such a simple fix, I felt kinda dumb for not trying it sooner. But hey, at least I got a new SSD out of it, right?
So yeah, if you’re having trouble with Cyberpunk 2077 crashing after the 2.0 update, try limiting your FPS. It might just save you a lot of headaches. I don’t know why that is the solution but it worked well on my PC.
Hope this helps someone out there. Happy gaming!
