So I saw this thing online the other day, people were talking about this UFC fighter, Dricus du Plessis, and whether or not he’s gay. It got me curious, you know? So I decided to do a little digging myself.
First, I went straight to the source – well, kind of. I checked out Dricus’s own Instagram. Scrolled through a bunch of his posts, looking for any hints or anything. He’s got pictures of him training, hanging out with friends, the usual stuff. Didn’t really see anything that screamed “I’m gay” or “I’m straight,” to be honest. But I did notice that some people in the comments were talking about the rumors.
Next, I started Googling. Typed in “is Dricus du Plessis gay” and boom, a ton of articles popped up. Seems like this is something people have been wondering about for a while. Some articles said it all started during the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and that he addressed the gay rumors on this show called “The Shadow Banned Show”.
- Most of the articles said he’s straight. They talked about how he was in some kind of argument with another fighter, Sean Strickland, before a big match. Apparently, Strickland was saying stuff about Dricus’s sexuality.
- There was also this one podcast thing I found. Apparently, Dricus talked about the rumors on this podcast, saying he’s dealt with people saying he’s gay before.
- Then, there was this other article about him kissing his coach. It was after a fight he won against some guy named Robert Whittaker, back in July 2023. And people were saying that the kiss was some kind of proof.
- I even read that he’s become one of South Africa’s highest-paid athletes, earning about R40 million in 2024!
So, what did I actually find out? Honestly, not much. It seems like Dricus himself hasn’t really said anything definitive about being gay or straight, only that he is comfortable with his sexuality. He’s never come out and said, “Yes, I’m gay” or “No, I’m not.”
The whole thing is kind of a mess. People are making assumptions based on a kiss, some comments he made, and an argument with another fighter. It’s all just speculation. In the end, it’s his business, right? Whether he’s gay or not, he’s still a successful fighter, and that’s what really matters. He’s the UFC Middleweight Champion! Pretty cool.
This whole thing just goes to show you how quickly rumors can spread online. It’s important to take everything you read with a grain of salt and not jump to conclusions.
