Turns out, it’s a name I saw connected to some baseball player, Ketel Marte. Apparently, Elpidia Valdez was his mom. Poor guy, she passed away in a car crash. Can you imagine? One minute you’re talking to your mom on the phone, the next… she’s gone. It’s heartbreaking. I read that he had to go back to the Dominican Republic when it happened. Must have been so tough, being far away from home and dealing with that.
I felt kind of bad, you know, digging into someone’s personal tragedy. But I kept going. And then, to make things even more confusing, I found something about an actress named Elpidia Carrillo. She was in that movie “Predator,” the one with the alien hunter. She played a character named Anna, I think. So now we’ve got a baseball player’s mom, a horror movie character, and an actress, all somehow connected to this “Elpidia Valdez” name. It was a lot to take in, I tell ya.
