Okay, so I gotta tell y’all about this “MLB The Show 23” game. My kid, he’s been glued to it. You know how it is, always on the PlayStation, morning ’til night. He’s gotten pretty good, but the other day he comes up to me, asking about, get this, cheat codes. Cheat codes! I chuckled a bit, told him it ain’t like the old days.
I remember back when we had actual cheat codes, you know, you’d punch in a combination of buttons and bam, you’re invincible or something. But for this game, it’s not that simple. I did some digging around, and it seems like the folks over at Sony, they’re the ones running the online side of things. And that’s where people, some people, mind you, are trying to find ways to…well, let’s just say they’re looking for shortcuts.
Now, I’m not one to judge, but it does get under my skin a bit. I mean, where’s the fun in that? But then my kid says, “Dad, everyone’s doing it.” I had to explain that just because “everyone’s doing it” doesn’t make it right. We had a good talk about playing fair and all that.
Apparently, there’s this thing called “Diamond Dynasty” and some “Showdown mode” where people found a way to get good cards, diamond ones, whatever that means. Seems like they found a way to trick the game, or so I heard. And apparently, if a player tries to use a doctored bat or mess with the ball, the umpire will toss ’em out of the game. But online, who’s gonna catch ’em?
So, what did I do? Well, I sat down with my kid and we practiced. I told him, “Forget the shortcuts, let’s work on your swing.” We spent hours just hitting the ball, using the “X” button, trying to get that good contact. It was a good bonding time, you know? Reminded me of when my dad taught me how to play.
At the end of the day, I told him, “Look, you might not win every game, but playing fair, that’s what matters.” He seemed to get it. At least I hope he did. It’s tough, these kids and their video games, always looking for an edge. But hopefully, I got through to him.
Here’s what we did:
- Spent time practicing: We didn’t look for any glitches, just good old-fashioned practice.
- Focused on the basics: I showed him how to use the X button for better contact.
- Had a heart-to-heart: I explained why playing fair is important.
It’s all about the game, not just the win.
Anyway, that’s my little story about “MLB The Show 23” and the whole cheating thing. It ain’t like the old days, but some things, like playing fair, they never change.
