Hey guys, you won’t believe the ride I’ve been on with this RJ Barrett thing. It all started when I got wind of the trade that sent him from the New York Knicks to the Toronto Raptors. I was like, “Okay, let’s see what this kid’s got.” I mean, he was the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, so there had to be something there, right?
So, I started digging. I watched a ton of Raptors games, just keeping my eye on Barrett. And man, did he start to show out! I remember this one game against the Indiana Pacers—November 18th, I think it was. Barrett just exploded for a season-high 39 points. I was jumping out of my seat! He was making history for the Raptors, and I was there for it, well, virtually at least.
- I started keeping a closer eye on his stats after that.
- Noticed he was becoming the Raptors’ most dependable play.
- Some guy named Samson Folk even wrote about how RJ was making “the leap.”
It wasn’t just about the points, though. I saw him developing into a real offensive leader. He was showcasing his potential, showing everyone what he could do. It was like he was saying, “I’m here, and I’m ready to lead.” And let me tell you, being from Mississauga, he really understands what he means to the Raptors and the Canadian fans. It’s like he’s carrying the torch for them.
The Illness Setback
Then, there was a bit of a hiccup. I heard he was gonna miss a couple of games due to an illness. I was bummed, not gonna lie. I was like, “No, not now, just when he’s getting into a groove!” But hey, that’s life, right? You gotta roll with the punches.
But overall, this whole RJ Barrett experience has been a wild ride. I’ve seen him grow, seen him lead, and I’ve even seen him hit a little roadblock. It’s all part of the journey, I guess. And you know what? I’m here for it. I’m excited to see what he does next. I really think he’s someone who can be a major player for the Raptors, maybe even help them win big in the future. Who knows, right? Only time will tell.
