Okay, so, I really wanted to catch the Purdue game the other day. But, I couldn’t watch it on TV. So I thought, “Why not listen to it on the radio?” I gotta say, it was a pretty cool experience.
First off, I had to find out where to listen. I did a quick search and found out that WAZY (96.5 FM) in Lafayette is the main station for Purdue games. Turns out, you can also listen on *, which is super convenient.
I went ahead and checked out *. It was pretty straightforward. They have this “Listen Live” section. I also saw they have info about their DJs, like this Gabbie person who plays noon in the 90’s. They even had some contest rules for something called the “2024-2025 Excellent Educators Contest”. There’s also a calendar of upcoming events.
So, the game was about to start. On TuneIn, I found the Purdue Sports Network stream. There’s also one specifically called “Purdue Boilermakers (Football)”. It’s super easy – you just click and it starts playing.
During the game, I was really getting into it. It felt like I was right there in the stadium, even though I was just listening. I guess that’s the magic of radio. I also looked at some of their other stuff. They have something called TuneIn Plus. It’s got all sorts of sports talk and podcasts. Sounds pretty cool if you’re a big sports fan.
- I went on the TuneIn website.
- I searched for “Purdue.”
- I found the Purdue Sports Network stream.
- I clicked “Play” and started listening.
Oh, and I found out that there was a college football game between Purdue and Indiana on November 30th. You could even choose between the home or away broadcast. That’s a nice touch. Also saw that the Purdue men’s basketball team had a charity game against Creighton. It was going to be shown on Nebraska Public Media. That’s pretty neat.
Finding Purdue Student Radio
I also stumbled upon something called WCCR Purdue Student Radio. Apparently, it’s one of the oldest student radio stations in the Big Ten, started way back in 1952. From what I read, Purdue’s basketball team has been doing really well. They went from being ranked No. 24 to No. 1 in the country! They beat Gonzaga and Duke by 20 points, which is impressive.
Listening to the game on the radio was a blast. It’s definitely something I’ll do again. It’s a great way to follow the game when you can’t watch it on TV. Plus, it’s free and easy to do with TuneIn.
