So, the other day, I got into this random conversation with my buddies about basketball players, and the name Mac McClung popped up. I knew I recognized the name, but I couldn’t recall why he is famous. So, I started to search for his name, and I realized he is the guy who won the Slam Dunk Contest. And this dude is not even in the NBA! Can you believe that? A G-Leaguer!

And I was like, “How tall is this guy anyway?” So, I did what everyone does and turned to the internet for answers.
First, I searched on the websites and found a few articles mentioning his height. Most of them were saying the same thing. McClung is 6’2″ (188 cm) tall. That’s pretty standard for a basketball player, but still, I wanted to know more.
Then, I started to look at the discussion on his height. This is where it got interesting. I found out that McClung is known for his insane vertical leap. Some places said it was measured at 43.5 inches in the NBA G League Draft Combine, which is like, top 10 all-time. There were even some old posts claiming it was up to 47 or 48 inches back in his high school days! No wonder the guy can dunk like a beast.
- I decided to dig a little deeper into McClung’s profile.
- Turns out he was born on January 6, 1999.
- He is from Gate City, Virginia.
- He is currently playing for the Orlando Magic’s G League team, the Osceola Magic.
His age is 26 years old, and he was from Gate City. What a small world!
I also saw some videos of McClung dunking back in high school. He was posting them online, and man, those were some crazy dunks! It made sense why he won the Slam Dunk Contest. The dude’s got some serious hops. It also made me feel bad about my own pathetic vertical leap.
Anyway, I spent a good chunk of my afternoon reading about Mac McClung. It’s crazy how much information is out there. He might not be the tallest player, but his jumping ability is just insane. And it looks like he’s still killing it in the G League, so maybe we’ll see him in the NBA someday. Who knows?
Compared with other 2023 Dunk Contest players, I found Jaylen Brown and Jaime Jaquez Jr. are both 6’6″, which makes McClung shorter.
I can’t believe I just spent so much time researching some basketball player’s height, but hey, it was fun. Now I can impress my friends with my newfound knowledge of Mac McClung’s height and his crazy dunks.
