Okay, so, I had a tough time with this crossword puzzle today. I decided to record my journey to get this answer for “unfair to brits”.
I started the crossword as usual, filling in the words I knew right away. I struggled a lot at first. Then I tried to Google the “unfair to brits nyt crossword” to find some solutions, but no luck.
I kept staring at the puzzle, trying different combinations, but nothing seemed to fit. I spent a good amount of time just trying to figure out this one, and I mean I really puzzled over it. Then I tried to search for some information from the internet again. Some clues showed that “This clue last appeared in the NYT Crossword on April 27, 2024”, “We solved this clue, that last appeared on April 28” and even “On the other hand, knowing the term NOT CRICKET finally came in handy (I’m married to a Kiwi.” I felt like these were useless.
I tried to break down the clue. What does “unfair” mean? What’s specific about “Brits”? I was thinking about British slang, British culture, anything that could give me a hint. I thought, maybe it’s a phrase I’ve never heard of. I even started to wonder if I needed to learn more about British English to solve this one.
Then I had a thought – maybe it’s a kind of sport in Britain, so I tried to search something about British sport. Suddenly, I found “NOT CRICKET”. Could that be it? I tried it out, and… bam! It fit perfectly! I couldn’t believe it, “NOT CRICKET” was the answer!
Here is my whole process:
- Tried to solve the crossword normally.
- Got stuck on “unfair to brits”.
- Searched online for the specific clue, but found nothing too helpful.
- Spent a lot of time thinking and trying different combinations.
- Thought about British culture and slang.
- Considered I might need to learn more about British English.
- Had an idea about British sports and searched based on that.
- Found “NOT CRICKET”, tried it, and it worked!
After I finally got it, I felt so relieved. It’s like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Solving that clue made my day. I guess sometimes you just need to keep at it, and maybe look at things from a different angle. I even learned a new phrase today. I will keep doing these crosswords, they’re a great way to challenge myself and learn new things, even if they’re super frustrating sometimes.
