Okay, so the other day I was looking into this thing called the AWA, or American Wrestling Association. I’d heard of it before, but never really dove into the details. Seemed like as good a time as any to figure out who was who in their 1990 roster. So I dug around, started poking into various corners of the internet, and man, what a rabbit hole that turned out to be.
First, I needed to get a general sense of the landscape. You know, who were the big names, who managed who, the tag teams, all that jazz. Found a few sites that listed out the full roster. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I started to recognize some names.
Then I started organizing the information. It was kind of like putting together a puzzle. I made a simple list to keep track of everyone. I ended up with a list of wrestlers, tag teams, and the folks behind the scenes. A simple but effective method, I should say!
- Wrestlers: Verne Gagne, Mad Dog Vachon, Larry Zbyszko, and many others. These guys were apparently the top dogs.
- Tag Teams: I didn’t dive too deep here, but noted that there were several active ones.
- Managers, Announcers, etc.: These were the folks pulling the strings, making the calls, and keeping the show running.
Next, I wanted to learn more about the top wrestlers. Who were these guys, and what made them special? I found out that AWA had a mix of styles. You had your technical wrestlers like Verne Gagne and Nick Bockwinkel. These were the guys who knew all the holds and could tie you up in knots. But then you had your brawlers, like The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser. These guys were all about throwing punches and causing mayhem. It was a nice mix, I gotta say. You had a little bit of everything.
After spending a good chunk of time on this, I felt like I had a pretty solid understanding of the 1990 AWA roster. I mean, I’m no expert now, but I definitely know more than I did before. It was a fun little project, and I’m glad I took the time to do it. I just wanted to share my experiences and how I did it.
