So, I was scrolling through my Instagram feed the other day, and I saw this crazy cool picture of Nate Diaz. But it wasn’t just any picture – it was all done up in neon lights. It looked so awesome that I just had to try and make one myself. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of DIY, right?
First things first, I needed a good picture of Nate Diaz. I spent a good hour just browsing through images online, trying to find one that would translate well into a neon sign. I finally settled on a close-up shot of his face – the one where he’s got that intense, “don’t mess with me” look. You know the one.
Next up, I had to figure out how to actually turn this picture into a neon design. I’m no artist, but I’m pretty handy with Photoshop. I opened up the image and started playing around with the line art. Basically, I traced over the main features of his face – his eyes, nose, mouth, and that signature scar. It took a while to get it just right, and I probably redid the lines like a million times.
- Opened the image in Photoshop
- Traced the main features using the pen tool
- Adjusted the line thickness and style
Once I was happy with the line art, it was time to add the neon effect. This was the fun part! I used a bunch of layer styles and effects in Photoshop to make the lines glow. I played around with different colors, but in the end, I went with a bright, bold pink and blue. It’s got that classic, retro, neon sign feel. I played with glow intensity and some color dodging to make it really pop off the black background. There was some blending options I played with too, but I am no expert in this.
- Applied layer styles to create a neon glow effect
- Experimented with different colors and settled on pink and blue
- Added some detail work to enhance the lighting effect
After hours of tweaking and fiddling, I finally had something I was proud of. It wasn’t perfect, but it definitely captured the vibe I was going for. It looked like a neon sign that was maybe in a dive bar – super cool.
I was so stoked with how it turned out that I posted it on my Instagram. I’ve gotten a bunch of comments from people saying how much they love it. I even had a few people ask me if I could make one for them! Who knew this little project would turn out to be such a hit?
The Final Design!
The image is finally done! It took way longer than expected, but I think it’s looking pretty sweet. I learned a lot about Photoshop along the way, and that’s a win. I’m thinking I might try making some more of these neon designs. Maybe I’ll do one of Conor McGregor next… or maybe even my dog! The possibilities are endless, as they say.
