Okay, here is my blog post about the 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser that Joe Rogan had.
So, I saw this 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser that Joe Rogan had, and man, it got me thinking. I always wanted to mess around with one of those. This one was all modified and tricked out, and it looked so cool, I just had to try and build something similar myself.
First thing I did was start looking for a used 1995 Land Cruiser. I went on some local websites and checked out some listings. Browsing through so many photos and images, you know. After a few days of searching, I finally found one that was in decent shape and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. The owner was some old dude who didn’t really drive it much anymore. We haggled a bit on the price, and I ended up getting it for a pretty good deal.
Once I got it home, I started making a list of all the things I wanted to do. Suspension was a big one. I did some research and found that this company SuperPro makes a ton of suspension parts for these things. I ordered a whole bunch of bushings, sway bar kits, and a few other things from them. It took forever for all that stuff to show up, must be in high demand, lots of folks working on their cars, so be it. I started tearing the old suspension apart while I was waiting for parts. That was a pain in the ass, let me tell you. Everything was rusted and seized up. Took a lot of banging and prying to get it all off.
- Tore apart the old suspension.
- Waited a long time for the new suspension parts.
- Installed new suspension parts.
- Fought with rusted bolts.
When the new parts finally got here, I started putting it all back together. That went a little smoother, but it was still a lot of work. Those bushings were a pain to press in, even with the right tools. I ended up taking it to a shop to get some of them done, my simple tools just can’t compare to theirs. I don’t work on cars every day, so those fancy machines is not a good investment for me, just a waste of money, to be honest. Also, I managed to get most of it done myself, anyway.
After the suspension, I started looking at other stuff, like encoding special characters in URL, which I didn’t even know was a thing back then. It turned out I need to translate some unprintable characters. That was a whole different headache, trying to figure all that out. Some robot or machine, I forgot what it was called, can do it automatically but I was broke after the suspension work. Had to learn to do it manually.
A Lot More Work To Do
I’ve still got a ton of work to do on this thing. The engine needs some work, and I want to redo the interior too. It’s a slow process, but it’s been fun so far. I’m learning a lot, and it’s cool to see it all coming together. It’s not like I can just print off some repair manuals and follow them. The best repair manuals don’t exist, you have to look up so many other stuff to figure it out yourself. I guess that’s part of the fun.
I’ll keep posting updates as I make more progress. It’s definitely a project, but I’m excited to see how it turns out. I mean, it is not a Motor Yacht or whatever. But it is my project, and I am proud of what I have done so far. I think I might even be able to take it off-road once I’m done. It will not be a race car, but hopefully it will be a lot of fun. Maybe, I will even put some crazy frog or something on it, just for kicks.
