Okay, so, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with this Devin Brown Ohio State thing. I’d been hearing about it everywhere online, and it seemed like everyone was jumping on the AI bandwagon. This Devin thing, it’s supposed to be some kind of AI that can do coding, right? Sounds crazy, but I figured, why not give it a shot? I found out you can get access to this Devin thing from a company called Cognition Labs. They want $500 a month to use it. I got to say, that is pretty steep. But, I was curious, so I paid the money and got access.
First off, I tried to do some digging to find out more about Devin. I did a bunch of searches online, looking up everything I could. You know, webpages, images, the whole nine yards. I even dug into some sports stuff, because I saw “Devin Brown Ohio State” and thought maybe there was some connection there with that Devin Saltiban baseball player I read about. Looked at his stats on some baseball reference site, saw he played in 2023 and 2024. Didn’t find anything that connected him to this AI, though.
Then I stumbled upon some information about a Devin Mann who was assigned to the Tulsa Drillers in July. Seemed unrelated to the AI, but you never know. Found some random forum talking about a task to reverse URL encoding. Not sure how that was related, but I kept it in mind, I was really grasping at straws to figure this whole thing out.
I also saw something about a Devin Trendl, a baseball player from the class of 2028, on some Perfect Game site. It talked about scouting and providing exposure for young prospects. Sounded pretty intense, with some guy named Krohn mentioned. Not really my cup of tea, but hey, information is information, right?
Honestly, messing around with Devin was a bit of a headache. It wasn’t as smooth as I thought it would be. I mean, the idea is cool and all, but it wasn’t doing everything I hoped it would. I even saw a post somewhere saying this guy made a 5th movie with some BrayFilms called “2B Honest” and that it was coming soon. I thought, maybe this Devin could help with movie scripts or something. Turns out, not so much. It’s more for code. I should have known from the start when I saw it was from a venture capital funded startup.
At the end of the day, it was an interesting experiment. Did I learn a ton about AI and coding? Not really. Was it worth the $500? Probably not. But hey, at least I can say I tried it. And I got a decent story out of it, right? It definitely wasn’t what I expected, that is for sure.
