Okay, so I’ve always been a huge golf fan, and this year, I finally got to go to the US Open. Dream come true, right? But then came the big question: what the heck do I wear? I mean, it’s a big deal, and I didn’t want to look like a total rookie.
First, I started by digging around online. Found out there’s actually no “strict” dress code. Phew, that’s a relief! But still, I wanted to look decent. A lot of places mentioned that it’s a pretty formal event, so I figured I should ditch the jeans and a t-shirt. I did see some folks saying that collared shirts and slacks are a safe bet for guys. That sounded about right.
My Outfit-Planning Process
I went to my closet and started pulling things out. Tried on a few different combinations. It was pretty clear that comfort is key ’cause you’re gonna be walking around a lot, and it might get hot. Here’s what I did:
- Checked the weather forecast: This was super important. The weather can change pretty quickly, so I wanted to be prepared.
- Picked out a few options: I grabbed a couple of polo shirts – you know, the classic golf look. Also some khaki pants and some comfy shorts, just in case it got really warm.
- Shoes, shoes, shoes: This was a big one. I knew I’d be doing a ton of walking, so I went with my most comfortable sneakers. They weren’t exactly golf shoes, but they did the trick.
- Accessories: I kept it simple. A baseball cap to keep the sun out of my eyes, and sunglasses, of course. Oh, and I almost forgot the sunscreen. I applied it in the morning, also bring it with me to reapply it.
What I actually wore to US Open Golf
In the end, I played it safe. I wore a light blue polo shirt, those khaki pants, and my trusty sneakers. And you know what? I felt pretty good. I wasn’t too dressed up, but I definitely wasn’t underdressed either. It was just right.
I saw a bunch of people in similar outfits, so I guess I made a good choice. Some guys were wearing golf shoes, but plenty were in sneakers like me. And yeah, there were a few people who looked like they were trying a little too hard, but most folks were just keeping it classy and comfortable.
So, if you’re ever wondering what to wear to the US Open, just remember: comfort is king. And if you’re not sure, a polo and some nice pants or shorts will always work. Also, don’t forget to check the weather. Have fun at the game!
