Okay, so, like, I was messing around with crosswords today, just trying to kill some time, you know? And I got stuck on this one clue, it was something like “Tokyo’s former name,” and I was totally blanking. I mean, I know Tokyo is the capital of Japan and all that, but its old name? No clue.
So, I did what any normal person would do and started digging around online. I typed in “Tokyo’s former name crossword” into the search bar. Boom! A ton of results popped up. Turns out, this is a pretty common crossword clue. Who knew?
I started clicking through some of the results. A lot of them mentioned that this clue had been spotted like, 20 times or more in different crossword puzzles. Some even said there were 40 possible answers! I’m like, “How are there 40 answers? That’s just nuts!”
I kept scrolling and reading. I saw stuff about it being in the “Daily Celebrity” crossword, the “NY Times” one, and even the “Daily Mirror.” I’m no crossword expert, but those sound like big deals.
- First, I just Googled it.
- Then I looked at a bunch of different crossword sites.
- I saw that it was in a lot of famous crossword puzzles.
Then I finally found it. The answer. It’s only five letters long, and I felt a little dumb for not knowing it. But hey, you learn something new every day, right?
I went back to my crossword and filled in the answer. It felt good to finally crack that clue. And, honestly, I’m kind of glad I got stuck because I ended up learning something new. Plus, it gave me a little story to share.
What did I learn today?
Well, I learned that even simple crossword clues can lead you down a rabbit hole of information. And that the internet is a pretty amazing place when you need to find the answer to a random question. Oh, and of course, I learned the former name of Tokyo.
I don’t even know why I’m telling you all this, I just felt like it. So, yeah, that’s my little crossword adventure for today. Maybe I’ll try another one tomorrow. We’ll see.
