Okay, so today I decided to tackle this crossword puzzle I found online, and the theme was “one is used in basketball.” It sounded simple enough, but let me tell you, it was quite the brain workout!
Getting Started
I started by looking at the clues that seemed the easiest. You know, the short ones that you’d think would be a no-brainer. I saw a three-letter clue that was “___ goal” and thought, “Easy peasy, ‘two’!” But nope, that didn’t fit. I went to grab my laptop to double check online if basketball ever used the two-letter word “two”, but I didn’t find anything relevant.
The Aha Moment
Then it hit me. The theme is “one”! So, I changed my approach. I started looking for clues where “one” could be part of the answer. I saw a clue that said “A type of defense in basketball.”
-
I thought hard, and then I remembered “zone” defense.
-
So, I filled in “z,” “o,” “n,” “e” in the grid.
Building It Up
From there, things started to click.
-
I saw another clue: “Single.”
-
Obviously, the answer was “one,” so I filled that in.
Slowly but surely, I kept filling in the puzzle, using “one” as a key part of many answers.
-
Like, there was this clue about a type of shot, and I was like, “Oh, it’s a ‘one-handed’ shot, obviously!” and that worked.
-
Another one said something like “Not two” and I wrote in “one” again.
-
For the earlier clue “___ goal”, I realized it is “one” and wrote in “e,” “n,” “o” backward.
The Final Stretch
It took some time, and a few cups of coffee, but I managed to fill out most of the puzzle. There were a couple of tricky ones that I had to really think about, but in the end, I got them all.
Victory!
It was such a satisfying feeling to finally complete the whole thing! It wasn’t just about finishing the puzzle; it was about figuring out the trick and not giving up. Who knew a simple word like “one” could be used in so many ways in basketball? Anyway, that was my little adventure for today. Hope you enjoyed hearing about it!
