Okay, so yesterday I tried my luck at the Magnit Championship Monday qualifier. Let me tell you, it was a wild ride from start to finish.
I woke up early, feeling pretty good. Grabbed some coffee and a quick breakfast, and headed out to the course. The weather was looking decent, a little overcast but no rain in the forecast, which was a relief.
Got to the course, checked in, and started warming up on the range. Hit a few balls, everything felt okay, nothing spectacular but solid enough. I was trying not to overthink it, you know? Just wanted to get into a good rhythm.
- First hole, a par 4, nailed the drive down the middle.
- Hit a decent approach shot, but it landed a bit short of the green.
- Chipped it close, two-putt for a bogey. Not ideal, but could be worse.
The next few holes were a bit of a blur. I remember making a couple of pars, a couple more bogeys. Was struggling a bit with my irons, kept pulling them left. It was frustrating, to say the least.
Then came the back nine. Started off with a birdie on 10, which gave me a little boost. But then I followed it up with a double bogey on 11. It was like one step forward, two steps back.
The rest of the round was pretty much the same story. Had a few good shots here and there, but also a lot of mistakes. Couldn’t seem to get any momentum going.
The Final Stretch
Coming down the stretch, I knew I needed to make something happen. Wasn’t sure exactly where I stood, but I figured I was probably on the outside looking in.
On the 17th, a par 5, I hit a great drive and had a chance to go for the green in two. Decided to go for it, but ended up in the bunker. Managed to get up and down for par, but it felt like a missed opportunity.
Headed to 18 needing a birdie to have any chance. Hit a decent drive, but my approach shot ended up in the rough. Tried to get it close with my third shot, but it didn’t work out. Ended up with a bogey.
So yeah, that was it. Didn’t make the cut, obviously. It was a tough day, and I’m pretty disappointed. But hey, that’s golf, right? You have good days and bad days. Just gotta keep grinding and hope for better luck next time.
