Okay, so, a few buddies and I got into this golf thing called “shamble” format the other day. I’d heard about it, but never actually tried it. We were looking to spice up our usual rounds, and let me tell you, it did the trick!
Getting Started
First off, we picked teams. Just drew names out of a hat, nothing fancy. Then, we teed off as usual, everyone hitting their own ball.
Choosing the Best Drive
Here’s where it got interesting. After everyone took their first shot, we had to pick the best drive out of the group. We walked around, checked out where each ball landed, and debated a bit. Ended up picking the one that was furthest down the fairway and in a decent spot.
Playing Individual Holes
- From that chosen spot, we each played our own ball until we sunk it in the hole.
- So, basically, after that first shot, it was like a regular round of golf, just starting from a different place.
- We kept track of our own scores individually, just like always.
Counting the Best Scores
At the end of each hole, we took the two lowest scores from our team and added them together. That was our team score for the hole. We did this for all 18 holes, keeping a running total.
Wrapping it Up
After the last hole, we tallied up all the team scores. It was cool to see how the scores changed throughout the game. Shamble format in golf really added a fun team element to it, but also kept that individual competition going. I will definitely play it again with my buddies.
All in all, it was a blast. We laughed, we cheered, and we definitely had some good-natured ribbing going on. If you’re looking for a way to shake up your golf routine, give shamble a try. It’s a great way to enjoy the game with friends and add a little extra excitement to each hole.
