Today, I was hanging out with my buddy, and we got into a heated debate about baseball. You know how it is, sports talk can get pretty intense. Anyway, it all started when he brought up the Texas Rangers. He was going on and on about how they’re finally getting good and how he’s a huge fan.
But then he said something that made me scratch my head. He claimed that some celebrity owned the team. I was like, “Dude, I don’t think so.” So, we made a little bet, and I decided to dig into it.
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up the browser. I typed in “who owns the Texas Rangers” and hit enter. The search results popped up, and I started scrolling through them.
Major League Baseball Ownership
It turned out to be a bit more complicated than I thought. There wasn’t just one person’s name that popped up. It’s actually a group of people that own the team.
- The first name I saw was Ray Davis. Apparently, he’s the majority owner. That means he has the biggest piece of the pie.
- Then there was another name, Bob Simpson. He’s also a big shot in the ownership group.
- I read that they lead a whole bunch of other investors. It’s like a big club of rich folks who decided to buy a baseball team together.
I kept digging, and I found out that they bought the team from a guy named Tom Hicks. This was way back in 2010, and it was a huge deal at the time. The team was even in bankruptcy! Imagine that, a whole baseball team going broke. But Davis and Simpson swooped in and saved the day.
So, I went back to my buddy and told him what I found. He was pretty surprised. He had no idea it was a group of people and not just one famous person. We had a good laugh about it, and I won our little bet. It’s always fun to learn something new, especially when it comes to sports.
Anyway, that is my little adventure into the world of Texas Rangers. It was a fun way to settle a friendly debate, I guess. In the end, it’s all about these two guys, Ray Davis and Bob Simpson, along with their group of investors. They are the ones calling the shots and running the show over at the Rangers.
