Alright, so I wanted to dig into Matthew Dellavedova’s stats. You know, Delly, the Aussie guard who played with LeBron in Cleveland and won a championship. I always thought he was an interesting player, so I decided to check out his numbers.

Getting Started
First, I needed to find a good place to get the stats. I could have try a Sports Statistics Platforms, but I just went straight to my browser.
Finding the Data
Once I got the stats, I really started looking at them. I wasn’t just looking for basic stuff like points and assists. I wanted the whole picture.
- Career Regular Season Stats: I started by looking at his averages over his entire career. Points per game, assists, rebounds, steals – the usual suspects. This gave me a good baseline.
- Per-Game and Advanced Stats: I saw his per-game numbers were pretty modest. I checked his advanced stats like Player Efficiency Rating (PER) and True Shooting Percentage (TS%).
- Playoff Stats: Regular season is one thing, but I was curious about how he performed in the playoffs, especially during that 2016 championship run with the Cavs.
Diving Deeper
After looking at the basic numbers, I wanted to get a bit more context. So I did these:
- Season-by-Season Breakdown: Instead of just career averages, I checked out how his stats changed from year to year. This way, I could see his best seasons, his worst, and how he developed over time.
- Splits:I checked out how he performed against different teams.
Putting It All Together
After collecting all these stats and looking at the different breakdowns, what did I got?
The numbers confirmed some of my thoughts. He’s not a scorer, his shooting percentages aren’t amazing. His value came from hustle, defense, and setting up teammates. His assist numbers were decent, especially for a backup point guard, and his steal numbers showed his defensive effort.
It’s a cool way to get a real feel for a player’s impact beyond what the highlights show you.
