Okay, so today I decided to dig into Mike Norvell, the Florida State football coach. I’ve been hearing his name a lot, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I started like everyone else does, I went on web.

I started by searching his name. Just typed in “Mike Norvell football coach” and hit enter. I found lots of things about him. I read some articles, looked at some stats, and generally just tried to get a feel for his career.
Next, I started to organize my research. I had a bunch of tabs open, so I created a new note on my computer and started copying and pasting key information.
- His early career: I found out where he coached before Florida State, what his roles were, and how his teams performed. I looked at win-loss records and any notable achievements.
- His time at Florida State: I focused on his record, recruiting successes, and any major program changes he implemented. I checked out his yearly performance and looked for trends.
- What people are saying: I checked out some articles and some interviews. I wanted to get a sense of his coaching style, his personality, and his impact on players.
I saved news, then I moved everything into a more organized document. I grouped things by topic and tried to create a timeline of his career. It’s still a little messy, but it’s much better than a bunch of open tabs!
Finally, I started forming my own opinion. Based on what I learned. I can see why he’s a big deal. I can see why he’s got people excited. I can see the whole picture, not just bits and pieces.
It was a good research session! It felt like I was really getting to know the guy and his impact on the game. I like this method.
