Okay, so I’ve been playing Genshin Impact for a while now, and I’ve always been fascinated by the crafting system. The Prototype Amber, a craftable catalyst, caught my eye because it seemed like a decent option for some of my characters. I decided to finally give it a shot and craft one myself. Here’s how it went down:

Gathering the Goods
First things first, I needed the materials. I already had the Northlander Catalyst Billet – phew, those can be a pain to get! – so I opened my inventory to take stock of what I had left.
I needed 50 Crystal Chunks, 50 White Iron Chunks, and 500 Mora. I Pulled out a note book and began recording my material farming route.
- Crystal Chunks: I went mining for Crystal Chunks. Stormterror’s Lair is usually a pretty good spot, I remembered from some farming runs with friends.
- White Iron Chunks: I farmed White Iron Chunks. I needed those, so I decided to hit up some of the spots around Wolvendom. Those wolves give me the creeps, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do.
- Mora: 500? Okay. We can do this.
Crafting the Amber
After a good hour or two, my bag was full. Time to head back to Mondstadt. I sprinted to the blacksmith, Wagner (he’s kind of a grumpy dude, but whatever). I Selected the Prototype Amber from the crafting menu. It took all of 30 seconds, and bam – one shiny new Prototype Amber. Easy.
First Impressions
I equipped it on Barbara to give it a test run. Honestly, it wasn’t bad! The energy regeneration after using her Elemental Burst was pretty noticeable, and the little bit of healing it provided was a nice bonus. It’s definitely not the best catalyst in the game, but for a craftable weapon, it’s pretty solid. This is great. I think I’ll take another shot at farming materials to refine it later.
So yeah, that’s my Prototype Amber crafting adventure. Not super exciting, but hey, sometimes it’s the little things in Genshin that make me happy.
